Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE OC

Been working a lot on the bike lately.

Mostly been working on the frame. Prepped it, brazed it, body filler, primer, first coat of paint. This is currently where I am at with it.

Tore down the wheel set to get ready to be sand blasted

Started working on the seat and how it will mount - PICS BELOW - I want to have it hinged on the rear of the bike, and it will also be a self aligning/locking seat via very strong magnets that I will install 2 onto the seat and 2 onto the frame.

Also been playing around with lower my gauge faces/relocating basically every button to my new gauge mount. Going to make it on the cnc at school.

Been taking apart 2 sets of forks to swap around different parts.

My rearsets have arrived!

I reinforced my seat with more fiberglass and some bent sheet metal.

More to come soon! I have been working very diligently to try and get this done in a reasonable amount of time.

Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE OCT 24

hey im starting a cb200 build too i was wondering what size and type of tires those are?

Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE OC

put 100/90/18 on the rear and 90/90/18 on the front. The tires are shinko brand. Just look on ebay. They are only about 55 a tire.

Looking good.! You keeping the tank and seat white? And are you gonna paint your wheels?

Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE OC

thanks man, tank and seat will still be white with black striping. Also the wheels will be painted. Rims black, nipples silver, spokes white, hubs black.

Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE NO

Alright, here is a a quick project update. The bike is coming along nicely, however I am still waiting on a few packages to arrive before I start some things. Below is a list of a few of the things I have been working on.

First, I built a work stand for my bike so I don't have to reassemble the thing while it sits near the ground.

Modified the rear shocks from a VT500 to work for my cb200 and got them mostly mounted.
IMAG0216.jpg

I rebuilt the front forks and modified them so that they also have the outer suspension as seen. The front forks are actually from a cb175 I have.
IMAG0231.jpg

I built a mockup of my gauge mount to see if thats really the way I want to go. Opinions would be appreciated. The end product will be machined out of aluminum.

Rearsets were mounted to the old passenger footpeg mounting brackets. It took some work, but they are going to be really nice in that location.

My next project will most likely be painting the tank and seat, mounting the headlight/taillight/turn signals, and then wiring up the bike. I still need to sand blast my wheelsets, but I have been feeling too lazy to do so. Oh Well.

Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE NO

I think I have a new idea for my gauge mount. Glad I decided to build a mockup before going through the work of machining one out.

Re: My CB200 BUILD - THE RESURRECTION - SHOW N SHINE PHASE - UPDATE LAST PAGE NOV 17

Looking good man. Keep the updates coming!

Re: My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE NOV 27

Update: Well I have been busy yet again, I have finished the sanding of my seat and have spayed on some primer, and I did a quick paint job to the tank just to see what I am looking for. Now that I have it figured out, I have started laying down the actual paint for the tank, but don't have any pics of that at the moment.

I spent some time figuring out where to put my electronics. I ended up fabbing a pvc plate that is bolted down below my seat. Pics below. I also attached my magnets to the tops of the rubber stoppers on the ends of my bolts as seen in the picture.

Brother your hinged seat is awesome, I love the creativity and craftsmanship that you put into that idea!

Re: My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE DEC 1

Thanks Joey~ It has been a lot of work to get that idea to work out, but it has payed off with easy access to my electronics/battery.

My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE DEC 1

Is that a lead acid battery? Just wondering as I thought they had to be kept upright if it is. I may be totally wrong though ;)

Re: My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE DEC 1

yes, just using it for mock up. No worries!

Re: My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE DEC 1

A little update:

*Wiring is currently at a standstill until I finish the machining of my tach/switch dashboard. However, it is going very well and is turning out much cleaner than I could have hoped. Maybe only 3 more hours of wiring to go? I have roughly 12hours into it so far.
IMAG0578.jpg

*I tore down my engine to measure some clearances to decide my next plan of action with it. I am taking my head to a machinist tomorrow to see about getting around 1.5mm taken off the head. Hoping to increase my compression ratio from the stock 9:1 to hopefully 10:1 or 10.5:1.

I drilled out my valve covers to give them a sleeker appearance.

I spent a lot of time just cleaning up various parts, began prep for the wheels, cleaned the sprocket.

I also snapped a couple glamour shots of the clip ons.

I compiled a small list of items that require my more immediate attention.

1. Mill out gauge dash: followed by finishing the bikes wiring *In progress*
2. Mill the head: Followed by engine painting/reassembly *In Progress*
3. Sand and paint the tank and seat: Followed by building a fiberglass seatpan for upholstering *In progress*
4. Sand/cleanup wheels/rims: Followed by paint or powder. *In progress*

Re: My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE DEC 10 *today*

Success!!! I took my head in to be milled today, and the machinist took off 1mm of material. I am running my same head gasket, but my compression has jumped up significantly!

Prior to the milling, I was running 120psi compression after rebuild.

Currently I am running 200psi! I think I am going to be ready to do the ton. Maybe with some 24mm carbs this will be achievable.

Re: My CB200 Build - AKA "Incognito" - UPDATE LAST PAGE DEC 10 *today*

200 PSI is hovering right around the edge of the safety margin.

You'll will DEFINITELY want to be running high octane fuel. Don't EVER put the regular stuff in that tank.

Also... take a look at head temp sensors. Trailtech makes a few good ones. 210°C is the danger zone. If you notice it creeping up to there, listen very carefully to the engine. A pinging sound around 5000Hz in pitch is your warning that bad/expensive things will be happening soon.
