Ok so I'm starting a build thread and here it goes..I bought a 1975 CB750 in July 2010 for $400 did not run, was bought with intentions of building a cafe racer, so far I have completely rebuilt the carbs, bored the cylinders, done some head work, and have a lot of stuff waiting for a little nicer weather, i hope you enjoy(keep in mind this is my first build)

Bought her in this condition...not too bad 8)

Re: My CB750 Project

Very nice, looks like you got a good deal. Nice work so far, the clean carb looks great.

Sold my '75 750 a while back. I really miss it but just bought another one on ebay and need to make a road trip to pick it up.

SOHC 750s are fantastic bikes.

Re: My CB750 Project

great work on the carbs and motor. if the rest of the bike turns out that way you're going to have one very slick bike. keep up the good work and keep the pics comin

Re: My CB750 Project

thanks so much...my goal is to have a really clean lookin bike so im taking my time with it...there def arent many cafe racers on the streets around here so i want people to question it and be impressed when im done..pics will be updated as i get more work done

Re: My CB750 Project

Same here... I have yet to see a cafe style bike in my town. So its going to be cool ripping through town on it cuz I know I will turn heads. I can't wait to see more pics

Re: My CB750 Project

where you from and more pics will come soon theres a good amount of snow outside so its tough to get out there and work on it for more than 15 min at a time without my hands going numb

Re: My CB750 Project

I'm down in Yuma, AZ. If it snowed here I'm pretty sure that would mean hell literally froze over :)

Re: My CB750 Project

lucky i wish i was warm i have boxes of parts wait to go on..should be done early spring though what you ride

Re: My CB750 Project

Nice work... Looking forward to see what comes of the build!

Re: My CB750 Project(new pic) need some help

What other part are you talking about? And have you tried an impact wrench?

Re: My CB750 Project(new pic) need some help

the gear shift positive stopper/side plate and the countershaft bearing holder

Re: My CB750 Project(new pic) need some help

i tried using my impact driver screws wont budge im afraid ill strip them if i keep hammering at it but i wanna get the positive stopper out of the way first just dont know how to get it off

Re: My CB750 Project(new pic) need some help

have you tried heating and cooling them? i know it will expand when heated and will shrink when cooled may be just enough to get them loose with the impact driver (carefully)

Re: My CB750 Project(new pic) need some help

I have never had trouble with the positive stopper but the counter shaft holder screws can be a major pain in the ass. I would recommend letting them sock in PB blaster over night, keep spraying them and also try some heat. When you get ready to try and remove them, use a screw bit and a wrench (make sure to get a bit that really fits snug)

$9 at Harbor Freight. That way you can put it in a socket/ratchet and apply even downward force as you try to extract the bolt/screws.

If you look closely at the screws holding the countershaft bearing they have been punched to keep the bolts from working loose. I have had success using a dremmel to carefully grind out the section of the screw head before trying to remove.

If all else fails I have drilled out the screw top and removed the rest of the bolt with vise grips many times.

Just take your time. Good luck bro.
