My new XS750... 3-1 Yosh header and slip-on.

Re: My new XS750... Modifications start.

Seat looks reeeaal good Louie. You thought about throwing on a 750 standard tank?

btw I couldn't remember if it was the special or standard that had the boxy tank, so I googled it really quick. This popped up (has a standard tank). Besides the forks, I was like DAMN.

Re: My new XS750... Modifications start.

Good grief Chris! I think you might have just landed the next evolution of my XS1100! That would morph perfectly to from its current state:

Do you know what forks and tires those are? Look like from an R6

Looks great Louie! I am patiently watching to see how it turns out!

Re: My new XS750... Modifications start.

Tyler, not sure about the tires, but the forks are from an '05 Kawasaki ZX6R.

I'm not feeling the forks too much, but it really is a cool bike. And it wouldn't take too much work to get a stock 750 to look like this one...which has me thinkin.

Sorry to hijack good sir.

Ahh, but you haven't ridden and XS with the severe obesity and spaghetti forks :D I think these would really help handling. The 750 weighs in pretty good, too. You should get one and try it! ;D

My apologies as well, Louie

Re: My new XS750... Modifications start.

Ya, I have the tank already. But it needs some body work and paint. So I got the cover sewn up. here is is. Sorry for the crappy picks. I'll get some better one tomorrow.

Thanks guys

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

I love those tanks, Have one on my 650. Are you going to trim that seat up a bit Louie? It looks kind off lumpy. Maybe with the new tank it won't look so lumpy and big. I had a feeling you would modify the bike sooner or later.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

Man... It took me about 6 hrs to hand sew that thing. It's not all that lumpy , but it is huge! I'm not completely stoked on it to be honest. But it had a 6" rip in the stock seat. that was kill'n me. I'll probably buy something already sewn up. I'd like a manx style seat but we'll see...

The seat looks good.

It is huge... but it may also look better once you get that other tank one. Looks like it might flow better.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

Wait, you sewed that by hand? I was just about to compliment your sewing machine skills. But if you did it by hand...well that's just plain bad ass, man.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

Here are some pics in the daylight.

Opinions are welcome. Though it'll be on there for a while now. As I dont feel like sewing for a full day again any time soon. My finger tips are still sore, ha ha...

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

How about some constructive criticism?

It does look good for sure, but I think it'd look even better with some ribs or checker/diamond cross stitching.

If smooth and sleek is the look you're going for, ignore me, you nailed it!

Thanks, I would love to do something to that effect. But I am sewing by hand with a hook needle. Those would take me weeks.

Thanks Ringo! It was torture.. This is the second one I've done. And I'm not sure I plan on doing a 3rd, ha ha.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

Looks good Louie. I haven't sewn a seat cover since my first cafe race bike back in about 1967. That's a mammoth amount of work.

Thanks man. Love your gt750 build.

As far as the seat goes, I'm super happy with the quality of it. Just not real sure on the proportions yet. So I figured I'd start getting the other tank stripped and ready to run.

Re: My new XS750... Messing around with the new tank

So I stripped the standard model tank. Then I got kinda bored. These were the results, haha

Edit: it's not staying. Just thought I would share my boredom.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

That HAZ art is amazing. I haven't ever seen that before and think it would look incredibly cool on a rough-style chop. Thinking outside the box, dude!

You've done a great job with the transformation of a UJM into a cool little racer.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

Louie you are a mad man haha. I saw the post somewhere when you picked this thing up but I had no idea you had started on it already. I was wondering what seat you were talking about
The seat looks fantastic man. Hand stitching takes forever so props to you man. The tank is wild. I really like what you did to it. Now I need to go back and catch up. I'm interested to see what your plans are.

Re: My new XS750... Seat finished!

So in spite of previously saying I didnt think I needed to re-jet. I was wrong.... I did some research this morning on the net, compared that info to what I was running and made an educated guess. It had a 130 main. And I went to a 152.50. Now it pulls HARD to 10k+

So the recipe for a stock xs750 w/ pods is:

152.50 main
1 up on the needle
42.50 slow jet
1 3/4 turns out on pilot

Top Bottom
