need help recreating this INSPIRATION bike

oh i totally understand it wont look like that bike. wouldnt want that anyways. that wouldnt be any fun. i just like the look of the tank with the gap between it and the bars. im new to this bike game, so i dont know what the "techincal" term for the design. i figured the seat was a one off. i like shape of the seat. i figured id do a shorty fender with the built in seat. i like how it goes up over the fender.

at least with your 82, you won't have to worry about an external oil tank. If you looking to recreate that space between the trees and tank, you'll want to look for a smaller tank from a smaller sized bike. problems will be you'll have to relocate the mounts, Not a big deal but you'll also have to relocate the coils. They are normally tucked in that triangle opening in frame, tucked under the tank.

You could also take a full size tank and split it to the size you want and have someone or your self weld it back up. that way you could always put a spot for the coils to go into.

wow, that tank is fantastic! thank you for the link.. with the seat, ill probably make a fiberglass or metal seat up that will sit on the frame and arch over the fender some. if i do the fender instead of that cafe look seat, ill have a place to mount my tailight as well. or a p-pad for the old lady!

Really the seminal points here are that it's pretty heavily lowered, the firestones and minimal body work.
I think you could easily get the 'flavor' of the SR in your larger CB.

Start with your bike stripped of body work and fenders, put some 10" lowering shocks out back and spacers in your forks to drop it.
Once there, the Champions of course will help a lot. Please consider at least keeping the fork brace portion of your front fender. The seat can be based on a very simple sheet metal pan laid right on the rails with the rear section of a gastank cut up to make the cowl.
Then choose your tank, there are lots of neat options. Minimal lighting, minimal chrome, satin paint and you're off and running.
Keep your exhaust as minimal as possible too.

Notice a pattern? Minimal minimal minimal.....

Shorter frame and swingarm than ur 750 but definitely do-able. Just for idea purpaces, theres always an ad on xs650chopper for a "brat kit" bent tubing. Now if you have access to a bender than disreguard. but at least it gives you an idea of the way the JaP guys are bending the tubing so the seat rests on the fender. As for the tank, call tyler at lowbrow! that axe or alien or whateve they call them nowadays is cheap and good quality.
heres the link to the bent tubing ofcourse you can give it more angle in the bend or that swooping effect.. up to you, but that will give you some ideas atleast

I think that this is a pretty cool bike, especially since everyone isn't doing it. -kind of shinya kimura-ish.

The reason this bike looks the way it does is because it's a small single cylinder bike to start with. The end result is a very compact bike with a very low profile. A CB750 won't give you this effect, no matter how you do it. It is a big, wide bike.

cb750 are a park bench with wheels lol just kidding, kinda im sure you will end up sith some thing BIG and kool

this thing is so different.. Its like a scrunched up cafe race haha i love it. Im 6 ft 2 so i dont think it would be to comfortable for me

see, i think this thing looks low and chunky. probably just the angle im seeing. a shot from behind would show how skinny it is.. i think im intrigued by this is soley on the tank, ride height, and tire choice. i love the seat, but i think i can achieve the same look, by doin a short fender and run my seat up on to that. wont have the square seat back like that, unless i build it up like that with foam. will anything i do look like this... no. thats why this is just my inspiration. i wouldnt want it to look the same. just dig this look

i really like the alien tank from lowbrow. will the tunnel fit my dohc? i know that the frame is bigger diameter then the sohc model.

it will probably fit. Just measure. I have a generic peanut tank on my 450 and I think the spine is the same diam. as the 750...pretty standard tunnel that alien tank has.

Actually, i think it'll require some surgery. The 750 have three backbone 'spars' where the 450 have a single.
I think it could be done, looks at some cb750 chop pics and perhaps you'll get an idea or three....

True story. Thats why the 750 is such a pain in the ass to strip down and chop/bob withouty major surgery. It can be done, but you better know how to weld and own a grinder.

I've seen a few where the three top spars are replaced with one 3"d backbone, that'd work but it'd be.....work
