new cafe build cb450

im just under the assumption that the honda goldwing hub will be better suited for dual rotors, obviously because when it was made there were intentions of having a dual rotor.

Well my Golding hub came today and its exactly the same as my cb450 hub....oops. Oh we'll, at least this one has good usable bearings so it wasn't a total loss. My rear shock also came in today, looks good will just need some bushings made to make it fit correctly. Frame will be back tomorrow so ill update pics with the new down tubes.

cafe build cb450 getting closerrrr

Got a little update, had some time to get the pipes welded in yesterday with my brother, turned out good just need to get them ground down and smooth, but overall I'm happy with it. Also have my front wheel purchased and on the way from Buchanan, ended up going with a 3.5" excel rim with bare steel spokes and nipples, (going to pc black). Brake rotor adapters and front axle are currently being made as well, have a friend with a machine shop taking care of that which is nice. Spacers and rear swing arm bushing are in the process at the moment as well. Will update more pics etc of the mock up later this week.

Got my rear shock back tonight from my buddy with the new bushings so the dog bone fits correctly, he did an awesome job. So I mocked up the bike per say with the rear shock and swing arm on.. Need to start figuring out how ill be mounting the top shock mount, as well as the bottom dog bone. Any comments or constructive criticism is welcome, enjoy.

hey guys so my brother and i were doing a little brainstorming last night about how we are going about mounting the upper shock mount, as well as the lower dog bone. i drew up a very mediocre picture of what we are thinking, basically it looks like two triangular tabs coming off the sides of the center downtube where the shock will mount to. but we are now thinking about making one bracket, using something like 1/8" steel, and wrapping it around the downtube and out to the shock mount, basically in order to have more surface for welding and better integrity. Thoughts? the upper doesnt seem to be too much of a problem, but the lower dogbone, as you can see pictured below, is going to take some thought.. anyone have any ideas on what to do? running two tabs out that far just doesnt seem right, and im sure there is quite a bit of pressure on that dogbone. so anyone with some mono knowledge i would greatly appreciate it. thanks guys

Can't really see how the dog bone functions from the pics, however I would link the top shock mounting point to the upper side frame rails and the rear downtube. I am not certain that that downtube will take the applied forces on it's own. If you integrate the upper side frame rails into the mount it will give to a point to triangulate support for the seat structure I see you designing ;)

Front Wheel loose laced before I send it out for powder coating. Black rim, back spoke , gold hub. Also was just messing around and put it in the rear swing arm for a little visual.

If you dont mind me asking...what rotors are you using in the front? They seem to have the same bolt pattern as the original hub. Im scoring a 90's honda CBR front end and am trying to figure out what rotors will work. Worst case scenario i'll just make spacers/adapters.

Cool! If you get a chance, can you get me the diameter of those puppies?
Thanks in advance my friend!

got my parts back from the machinist this afternoon, just did a mock up of the front end installed with the all balls kit, spacers, and new axle. looks pretty good, just need to cut down the end of the axle to make a good clean fit. also had a new bushing made for the rear swingarm so i could use my stock bolt to run through it. fits nicely. enjoy.
