New CL100 Owner

That is extremely cool! Very useful to know what's going on in there. The things I would do with one of those ::)

Well, the box clearly states "not for medical or personal use," so there are some limitations. But is taking a look at what the cat ate in the backyard really "medicine," or more broadly, just "science?" It's debatable. The box also says a "beautiful glass hand bracelet" is included in the contents, which turned out to be bullshit, so I say screw it.

Thanks again, trek. It'll be nice having the center-stand back on the bike when I replace the clutch. The new stop puts an end to the problem of the foot contacting the chain.

Good! So, it popped right in, fits correctly AND was the proper part? It seemed a little sketchy how it wasnt pictured on the fiche. When the others were exactly the same, AND pictured. Thats the first time I have run into that sort of thing.

Plastic fender tag.

Speaking of going to the prom in the eighties, the clutch springs in my bike have seen better days:

A new spring is on the bottom in the photo, for comparison. I'm not much of a mechanic, but hopefully this will solve my funky-downshifts problem.

I replaced the discs and bearing while I was in there, too, though the discs still looked fine. Someone had taken the oil filter cover off at some point, presumably to replace them.

Gotta link for the new springs?

These guys had something else I wanted, though I can't remember what: http://4into1.com/vesrah-clutch-spring-set-sk-101-honda-cb100-xl250-cb350f-cb750k-cbx-gl1000/

4into1 is a great shop! I actually snapped my clutch cable about 5 blocks down the street from them when I was living in SF. Literally walked there and they had the one I needed. A couple of cool dudes run the place.

That's convenient. In the future I need to try to break down closer to shops that cater to vintage Japanese bikes.

I used to live around there, too. I'd take my TDM through Diamond Heights on Portola, just cruising around town. The TDM wasn't vintage back then, though. Nor did it ever really break down.

Diamond Heights is a great ride. My favorite ride was Twin Peaks, and you can't beat cruising the Great Highway on a sunny day 8)

SF really surprised me with how many great roads were around... Although I do prefer the canyons of LA.

Yamaha TDM's rock ! 8) got any pics ?

Yeah, that bike was a lot of fun. I'm a pretty mediocre rider but it made me feel like a stunt-man; if the front wheel wasn't in the air when I was on it, the rear was.

Yeah, and you can't beat 365 riding days a year!

Here are old photos of mine:

Those are nice luggage boxes, what are they? I'd like to find a pr. and install them on my Honda for long rides or trips to the grocery store.

Those boxes were nice, but flashy and on the light side in terms of durability. They were made by Hepco and Becker. It looks like they're still available, if not a bargain:

Thanks for the pics and info on them. They give me some ideas on building my own rack/attachments and then finding a pr. of cases I can adapt to the bike.

Sure. I'd love to have a rack and panniers on my CL, too. Here are a few more photos.

I welded the pipe/clutch-cable stay back together and hit it with whatever black rattle-can I had laying around.

My welds may be lame but they look authentic on a 1970 Honda. Haha.

Is there a preferred socket-head replacement fastener kit for the crankcase covers on these 100cc bikes, or should I order them piecemeal from MSC or somewhere? I'm over the Mickey-Mouse Phillips-drive screws. So far mine have been in good shape but someone made a mess of both the drive-sprocket cover screws- probably trying to get the lower one off without removing the side-stand bar, then swapping them, then doing it again. Though I can't really blame them. The placement is kind of goofy.
