New look?

Tim, I haven't been here in ages - but this new look is great!
Just starting my new garage and hope to be much more active again in the years to come.

Glad to see the DTT community still up and running.

Cheers!

Hi Tim, thanks for all the work you put into the site. Although this new configuration will take a lot of getting used to I think it will be great in the long run.

Just a couple of questions about some things I noticed right away... Will links in signatures come back? Or will we need to re-add those? My logo seems to be missing too?

Also, one thing I really liked about the old DTT was that posted images came up in the chat/conversation/thread rather than a link/attachment. Will this feature be restored as well? I think images make a thread much more interesting and easy to digest - especially if they are right there to view rather than needing to click on them.

Will old threads be resurrected as well? Seems a shame that they get allocated to an 'archive' and don't even come up in searches any longer. There is a lot of good and helpful information in many members long build threads here, even if they have not been commented on for a long time, they still get a lot of visits.

Cheers!
What old threads are not coming up? Nothing should be archived and not appearing in searches etc.

While many avatars made it over, some might have been incompatible for some reason and will need to be re-done by users. The links in signatures as well unfortunately.

I'm working on making the old site available for members to collect things like bookmarks - another area that didn't migrate sadly.

Hey By! what's up? glad you're still alive and kicking. Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for projects.

Well done Tim, nice work! I haven't been on here in quite a while (been busy with other bikes but getting back to my CB350 recently) but just got the notification that the site was updated. I know how much work these type projects are so hats off to you for getting it done, all looks great.
Hey, welcome back. Get back on here with some updates!

All the threads and even signature links seem to be working now. Great job on the migration!

Only thing left is the images - which are shown as attachments rather than displayed right in the thread. But maybe that is not possible to solve? Or is a settings issue that each individual can tweak for their own viewing?

I believe all old attachments migrated as thumbnails on their messages, not 'inline'. It's a post-specific thing, so I can't make them appear one way for some users, another way for other users.

I can bulk-update a user's posts to alter the attachments to be inline. So I could change all your posts to put the attachments inline vs. as attachments, but I can't make it so you see everyone's attachments inline.

As people make new posts, they choose between inline and thumbnails.

Thanks for the explanation Tim! I'll make sure I choose the 'inline' option in the future. But if possible, yes, it would be great if you could adjust all my previous posts/threads to be inline - if it is not too much hassle!

I’m looking at how to do it. Turns out the method I know of allows me to change thumbnail to full-size, but they need to be embedded in the post first.

I need to sort out how to take attachments and embed them in the post, full size.

I’m also not planning on another big change like this for at least 10 years :) so post away!

Sonic would have hand-carved a website for us out of solid North American hardwood...
