Nixon tries to fly

I'm in Petaluma up in Northern California. Everything I know about motorcycles I learned from DTT, or just getting in there and getting my hands dirty. There are still some things that are totally beyond me though, like wiring and the inside workings of engines. I'd still love to learn how to weld too. That would solve a bunch of dilemmas I've had. But, this site has been awesome, and with the exception of a couple instances, everyone seems pretty cool.

That's the amazing thing about owning these old machines. Over the years you start developing a list of skills you never thought you would. Hell, i even make extra cash wrenching on the side now. Thinking about switching to doing it full time soon.

Check your local community college. They probobly offer cheap welding classes. Post up in the California section and see if there are any local members who would want to get together for a beer and some wrenching. I bet you'll get some replies. Hell, 90% of the people I talk to, wrench with, ride with (when I have a working bike :( ) are folks Ive met here on DTT. The locals here in Pittsburgh (and the weirdos from WV, and MD that keep showing up) get together all the time. I couldnt have learned or done 1/2 of the shit I have without them.

Good idea about the community college. Actually, I'm from San Diego, just moved up here last August, and before I moved I found out the nearest JC offered welding classes. Thought about taking a class, but then I moved and totally forgot all about it. I have a CX500, and the frame is the shits for cafe-ing without being able to mod it. Obviously the Japanese weren't thinking of me when they designed the bike. Then again, I wasn't thinking of changing it when I first bought it. Live and learn.

Dang, man! I just check in here on Friday's usually, and just saw this. Glad you're 'OK'. Could have been a lot worse. Yeah... always ride your own ride. I ride dirt bikes a lot and see lots of people get in over their head real quick trying to keep up with someone else.

Keep on keeping on!

Find someone who welds and make friends. That way you can drink beer during class!!!

That's what Jared did. Now I can't keep him away. He's like a kid in a candy store around greasy things....and I do a good job making his wife mad!!

Thought I would share this since I finally got to see my X-rays. Compound fracture of the right clavicle. Supposedly 3 more weeks in a sling.

Just showed William (Mr. Magoo) he said "Holy, He broke his right in half!" He cracked his collar bone last summer when he crashed his bike. I told him you guys can compare lumps when you see each other again. He has a knot of bone where his healed up. I am sure you will have a nice one too.

Not sure how I didn't see this post earlier. Glad there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage. I like the pic with you in a sling and the Flug shirt though.

Yes, we can compare war stories over a frosty root beer. I actually broke my other one in high school and have a really nice lump on that one. Now my shoulders will match.

I was on my way back from a bike show when I crashed. I had to represent.

I know I design airplanes for a living,

Well, since you know what you do for a living, you must not have hit your head too hard.

Brilliant

We would like to thank you for all your compassion Norton Guy. I mean, a fellow motorcyclist just went over a cliff. Obviously, a sense of humor does not come standard to internet trolls such as yourself.

Hasn't it been said before to take your elitist attitude somewhere else? And yet you are still here.........

Rich that will never work next time try GET FUCKED NORTON GUY, PEOPLE HATE YOU!

Something tells me he has heard that his entire life..........and his attitude still stinks.

Norton, you should start your own thread and regale us with all your incredible stories of bikes you have built, bikes you have ridden, accidents you were in, why you have social interaction issues, how much you love Mike Seate and inspire to be like him, etc, etc.

And be sure to title it something like "Proof that I am better than you in every conceivable way" so you get the attention you deserve.

Curious after reading the last few comments, I checked out that Norton guy's other posts to see if he really is as big of a dick as it seems. Holy shit, you guys are right, the guy is a fucking ass clown. Within just a couple posts he was proving how much of a cockhole he is. I'm sure he's reading this and will probably make some comment. Oh, well, he probably drives a lifted truck monstrosity to compensate for his lack of penile function or something. Seeing as how much it would suck to have a tiny, worthless dick, maybe we should all cut the guy a little bit of slack..? Eh, probably not.

Anyway, I hope Flug is feeling better. Hey Flug, post some more battle wound pics! You fought a boulder and won, you should show that off.

My momma told me if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything. Maybe that's why I don't talk much.
;)

As for my battle wounds, all the rest are bruises (luckily). Not sure you really want to see that as I have to shed clothes for you to see them.

Oh, here is one. Hmmmmm, something isn't right here.
