Ok so I have been lurking this site for years collecting info and insperation for all you guys and gals on this site. I finally have a nice garage to work on my cb360 that I have been collecting parts for what seems like forever! So last night was my first night really working on her. My top tripple clamp was cracked on both sides, so I picked up a nice aluminum one of eBay for 50 buck a while back.
I managed to get the old one off without any problems...but I am struggling with getting the new one on. From what I can see I have to lower the front end about a inch or so to get the new one on. This is where I am now! I am super bike illiterate so any help/ tips would be greatly appreciated!
You might want to check to make sure your fork legs are straight and that the triple tree stem is straight. Assuming the top stem piece you have is the right spec, then something else is out of whack. The top stem piece should slide right on.
They break real easy when overtightened.
The cast top is pretty brittle. New one looks good and was a hell of a good deal at $50.00
Being 'flat' it will lower front end about 1"~1-1/4", the original was cranked down to fork tubes
Yeah it lowered it about a inch. How tight should I crank it, do I need to torque it to a specific specification? I don't want to over tighten it! Also I got the bike up on the table I made for it out of scrap wood leftovers from work. I have a ton of work to do, back at it tomorrow night...gotta get to bed, back to work in the am.
Ok so I have managed to get a little more done. Rear sets installed, front brake caliper replaced, now I just need new levers and master cylinder. Does anyone have a suggestion for levers/mc? I plan on eliminating the electric start horn and signals so just want something clean. I was looking at a cheap universal set on eBay...anyone tried these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251217768590?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
Ok been busy in the shop! I feel like I might never get this thing done, I can't stop changing things and coming up with new ideas! But anyway, I decided I didn't really like the seat I had so I started making a new one. First I tried forming one out of foam so I could fiberglass it. I spent hours shaping it but I feel like I would never get it semetrical. So I came up with another idea! Got a plastic tank cover from a 05 cbr and cut it up till I had the shape I wanted. Now I'm working on fiberglassing it all together. I'm pretty happy with the way it is turning out. Also I raised the tank in the back to look a little more agressive. I changed the ignition coils so I had to make a some brackets for those. I always forget to take pics...but this is where I'm at now.
Thanks guys...I'm pretty excited about it! O and Nate I will be stealing your idea about flipping the rear sets so the linkage is on the bottom, much cleaner look!
Thanks crazypj, I'm actually changing the rear sets up anyway so I can adjust the linkage. What exactly is wrong with it...how should the angle be?
So I actually just installed my starter block off plug that I got from crazypj! I have no idea what in doing! I opened the left motor case and found a loose sprocket and chain...assuming it came from the starter that I pulled out! Is there anything else I should be removing befor putting the case back on?
