Hey Trek, you might want to hit the headlight plastic with some clearcoat. I think one of the headlight polish kits comes with some kinda protective coating as well. What happens is that the plastic's UV protectant wears off from the constant sandblasting of driving, and then it yellows. I polished my headlights about a year ago, and they're all foggy and yellow again since I didn't put anything on them.
Heh, "polished my headlights." ;D
Also, having to pull the plastic bumper cover to remove the headlights is pretty much consistent across all foreign and domestic cars. It keeps the lines of the car looking smooth, and the cover's supposed to absorb most of the abuse the front end of the car takes to keep repair costs down. Better a $100 bumper cover than the core support, condenser, headlights, etc, so the design keeps all of our insurance premiums down, and makes it easier for my Dad and I to fix accident damaged cars.
FYI, GM and Subaru use the same stupid little plastic "pop it" clips. Stuff's all the same now, foreign or domestic. At least I don't have to have separate metric and standard nut and bolt bins anymore - it's all metric.
