Post a pic of your latest purchase

I got a few new goodies.
I cashed-in my charge card points from the trip to Barber for a SPOT.
Ordered a 10" DTT patch from Dime City.
Bought a new pair of gloves (Sedici) from Cycle Gear during a recent trip to Tulsa, OK.
And picked up a set of heavy duty needles at Walmart, to sew my patches etc.

Nikon F3, high end film SLRs are so cheap now. I could never afford one when these were new.

I always wanted an F2, they are still expensive.
Doesn't the F3 have something like 1/4,000sec shutter?

F2s aren't nearly as abundant as the F3 which was the professional 35mm SLR standard for almost 2 decades. F3 has 1/2000 top speed. The body and flash cost me $250, the lens was $120. Even used Hasselblads are within my budget. But vintage Leica rangefinders are still commanding very high prices.

That's a lumpy cam.
Nice welding on pins, 83 or 90?

83 / 277 :) the 90 is a tough deal with different crank pin etc. needed.

Looking forward to buttoning it up. Endless cam chain on the way and cases being soda blasted. Just need to sort out the sleeve in the cam - it's sleeved to keep it true while welding, but the sleeve prevents the advance rod from passing through. I'm assuming the sleeve can now come out / be milled out to let the advance rod pass but just checking. It's the way they're all done (except Mr Riggs who cuts the cam down the center of the sprocket holder and pins it together with bolts after) and everyone runs Pamco's 277 ignition which requires the mechanical advance mechanism.

Woohoo!

I made a unit to use a Honda ATD so everything is on one end of cam and still use's points
Also thinking of going electronic with built in advance curve
I've been looking at HD ignition, they have a vacuum retard
It maybe it would be possible to use vacuum for starting then allow full advance (probbly need a restrictor jet in vacuum line plus kicking over a few times before turning on ignition

Seeing more folks picking up the DT's makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I was worried it would be an uphill battle to work with one, but it looks like they're more prevalent and well-loved than I'd realized.

What's the plan for that DT250?

HA! I have been eyeballing a dt400 myself. It's pretty complete, has lights and a plate and everything. I can't decide if I were to get it if I would
A) Build a street legal Retro-YZ400 style Motard
B) A wackjob cafe.
I still have a pile of cool old yz400 accessories from my MX days.

I had that quandry with my DT250, but I've become pretty set on doing a true-to-type cafe/rocker bike. I've got what I've got, and I'll do what I can with it. THe fuel mileage with the smaller bikes is pretty sick, and they're light enough to be buckets of fun at the bottom-end. That, and going 80 on a bike that weighs as much as you do feels like going 180 in a car. :D

Why not go for a tracker or Retro Motard (aka Re-Tard) or Cafe Motard (Caf-Tard) or cusp of Motard design which would be Cus-Tard..

Sorry about that last one. It's my British genes showing up at the most inconvenient times.

Hey Mister....everybody gets Hung up on labels....figured I'd call dibs!
Hahahaha!
But.....the more I think about it, an.oldschool yz400 (DT in disquise) with tastefuly updated suspension and rollers would be kinda neat!

I just picked up a brand new breadboard with some test leads so I can start designing my electronic ignition. :)
