Post a pic of your latest purchase

That must have been a wild balancing ride. 500 or 650?
650, it'll pair well with the t120r engine I bought for $75 4 years ago.

Balance was fine, the issue was with the weight out to the sides the bike didn't want to lean, so turns were a little wonky.

That's pretty badass you got it home like that dude.. great score on the engine and frame; I've been wanting to build an old triumph for a long time but everything old triumph is so expensive where I'm at.

They aren't cheap around here either. I just got lucky. I'd been looking for a frame since I found the engine. Found the engine on offerup, which isn't used much in my area. Just an old guy that was tired of having it in his storage unit after 30+ years.

The guy selling the frame wanted it gone because "he was tired of cutting his shins on the axle plates.

new rear tire for the GL1000 getting tired of changing it almost every season so I went pricier for a dual compound that should last 2+. Bridgestone Battleaxe BT-46

Hope that works out for you. I was going through rears on the GL1800 way too fast until I took it to the dark side. Too bad they don't make a car tire to fit the 1000.

Yep, it should be better than the 10-12k miles I get out of the shinkos. They are great but burn centers off fast when you do freeway rides to get between twisties.

I've got a thing for Chevy vans. Got my first at 17yrs old and was hooked when 10 friends and a pony keg would pile in for concerts. Had a few since then but always wanted a 4x4. Fast forward to January 2024 when I stumbled on an ad for a 1995 Chevy G20 4x4 so I made it happen. Less than 60k original miles on the og TBI350. Runs great. It was originally bought new by a Sherriff's dept and they had it converted to 4x4 and wired to the gills as a surveillance vehicle. It's a riot to drive. Needs some cosmetic body work but little or no rust. I'm keeping Red as a hauler and Greyman will be camping and misc errands.

So I fired this up tonight. Took 1/8 plate i will be using on the pilot frame and stuck 2 pieces together. Wasn't purdy but the penantrarion was good and I couldn't beat the 2 apart with a cold chisel and hammer. Very happy with the machine. It will work perfect.

An unlucky 20 year old fresh rider on a DRZ400SM and a brand new Yoshi system crashed so I ended up with a barely used slightly scratched (just a bit on the inside of the header pipe somehow - no silencer damage) Yoshi RS2 setup for my DRZ for half price :)

Nice, I've got an older yoshi TRS system on my drz. It's a little loud, but with a built engine it goes pretty good.

I'll be running the spark arrestor and might order the Low Volume insert to reduce the noise levels. It doesn't have a spark arrestor, so I guess if I was going to ride on a trail that was heavily policed I'd swap back to the spark arrestor but I've never been asked or stopped.

My DRZ isn't bored out or anything but does have the FCR carb and airbox cut open, so I expect the more open exhaust will help the engine a bit not that it needs it. If it runs more 'in tune' and less rich then that's great, but I haven't noticed any issues with the bike in the few years I've owned it.

I do need to pop the carb off as it is overflowing - I expect the float is stuck. Fine when running even at idle but if I forget the petcock (running Acerbis tank so no vacuum petcock) the tank will empty itself into the ground.

I had mine on the dyno with fcr39, e intake cam, opened airbox and yoshi trc pipe. Made 38hp. Added big bore kit, old style hotcams and ported head and the next dyno trip jumped to 47hp. Both times had the spark arrester quiet insert. Haven't had it on the dyno with the stroker crank, fcr41 and TRS pipe, but it feels like a pretty good gain. I'd expect low to mid 50s.

Using a wideband I tuned my carb between 40 and 70 degrees, it's still at an acceptable AFR when it's 103* out.
