Post a pic of your latest purchase

Ya... Brad sent me the eBay link last night. I happened to have had a couple beers in me and thought "I need that"! Hahaha. I got it for a few hundred less than a new Airtech piece though. In all honesty, I shouldn't have spent the money, but I've always wanted one and those new tires for the truck can wait. :)

So traded the cb360 for a 2002 R6 a couple of months back, not the best of shape. Needed some plastic, a good degrease...chain lube everywhere! Tore it down, paint the frame black and started putting it back together cleaning as I go.
First day home.

Now back to the cafe. :D

I'm surprised your school had a shop in the first place! No highschools in NYC for the most part have a shop class anymore.

Probably a good thing anyway; most of the kids lack simple hand eye coordination and patience to operate the machinery. Such a shame, truly.

And that is where society has failed in general.

fairing.jpg

This is on its way to my house now.
Nice Yamaha TD2 fairing or maybe TD3 ( I can't tell how small the side cover blsiters are.) It needs some repairs but most of the ones I drag home ar worse than that. Put the side ears back on and repair the other damage and it should slide straight on. Look at a TD3 for mounting ideas. You don't need anything really special and if you can weld it's easy. I usually do slip on ends on the fairing which slide over a smaller size tube on the frame and drill both and use an axle clip to retain it.

The slip on parts can be machined up from Delrin or Aluminum or fabbed from steel tube and flat strap.

Awesome Teazer. Thanks! I'm hoping that it shows up here in a week or so. Once it's here I can get a better understanding of what it needs.

Another angle ^^^^

The seller wasn't exactly sure what it was from, just that it had been "hanging on the wall of my shop for over 35 years". Can't wait until it comes in and I can start getting it all straightened out. This is going to be one badass little R5.

It's a TD2 Yamaha aftermarket frame and it's missing the little 'triangle" that goes between the fork legs to smooth airflow into the motor. TD/R2 had wider blisters on teh sides. TD3 were vestigial by comparison. The TD2 is more curvy/voluptuous and is a gorgeous fairing.

I have one just like it that arrived in similar condition and it wasn't hard to repair. I think I may still have the mini fairing mold that I used to recreate the sides (ears). I took a splash mold of the front end of a TD3 fairing and used that to repair the TD2 sides. If you need to borrow it, let me know. I don't have a mold for the triangle, but you can borrow my original part to make one and make me a copy while you are in the mood. :)

Not nearly in the same class of the recent posts, but it makes me smile. :)
My new HVLP gravity feed spray gun.
OK so it's only a Campbell Hausfeld but it ought to be a step up from rattle cans and better suited for tanks and frames than my old Devilbiss touch-up gun.

Now we just need to get you part to fit in that fairing man !!! ;D

Not really a purchase, a Freebee ;D. Wanted a recliner for the workshop so when I wasn't making stupid noise the wifey could hang out with me in the workshop (I know right) so today as she was heading to work she spotted 1 by the side of the road out side a local business, she called and told me, i'm thinking probably not a recliner, probably stuffed, probably UGLY ! so on her way home she passes by and its still there. Anyway so she calls me again, I go past speak to the business, find that its real leather, works fine and is only getting thrown out cause they brought a new 1? yonk score! ;D
