Picked up a couple more welcome mats.

Ruger SR40C and a 1969 Marlin Glenfield 30
You get a chance to shoot the ruger? I picked up a sr9c and really like it.

Got another RMZ/KX250F silencer and pipe
Top is 2005, bottom 2006 different front mount.
I may not use them though as they look a bit big on the bike

Saw it, fell in love, bought it. While I'm working with Junior ultimately on a set of small split tanks for my XS650 rigid, they're going to be fairly small for ripping around town. Was thinking I'd like something bigger for longer trips that I could swap out.

Plan is to mount the tanks on L brackets welded to the backbone, so they just float there. The backbone will be exposed and the brackets welded to the underside of the tube so they can't be seen. This BSA tank will need some bungs welded to the underside to mate with the same brackets, but it's nice and flat so should sit just fine.

Anyhow - was perusing looking for larger capacity tanks and stumbled across this BSA C15 tank. Impulse buy. Dent free, rust free, petcock and cap included. $125. Not cheap, but not bad for a clean rust, dent free tank with cap and petcock. Saw the same tank all rusted up sell for $60, so this seems OK.

Upon doing some research I find it's only 3 gallons, so not a massive jump from the likely 2 gallon small tanks, but 50% more is 50% more. And if not for this bike, maybe it will go on something else some day. Just spoke to me, and it's tax refund time :)

Nice score Tim. Some kind of one off custom badges seem to be in order? :) Can't wait to see what Junior turns out too.

Yup - already been scoping out the different repro rubber pads / badges for the tank. Interestingly I've been talking with someone who has a 3D printer and he offered up something in plastic... so that's got potential. Or the sandcast route... who knows. Will get the tank and see what's what. When it was described as being dent free and clear of any rust inside, along with the cap and petcock, I couldn't pass. Love the double ridges on it too. 3 gallons should get me about 2 hours of riding, and I can always carry a backup bottle just in case.

Really working to make this bike as rideable as possible. The seat is awesome - sat on it the other day and have a mounting plate planned. Going to put full fenders on both ends as well. I want to be able to ride it across the country should the mood strike. Only lynchpin is the XS engine vibrations but with the seat all springy, rubber bushings on the handlebar risers and some thick rubber foot pegs, I'm hoping to minimize that.

when I think of how many C15 tanks I scrapped 35~40 yrs ago..............................................

Here is what I did for my custom badges. Had them made off a Solidworks CAD drawing by a friend.
The actual badges were machined for me, with he curvature of the tank, by Billet Badges (http://www.billetbadges.com/).
If you want a photo of the actual badges, let me know and I will post them.

Glad you like them!
The pair was $350 if I recall. They made them in 3 weeks.
Here are some pictures of them prior to polishing. They look much better now.
You can also see the curvature on the badge to math the tank's curvature.

I apologize if I upset any of you!!!! I just wanted share.
Please, keep in mind that I am 60 years old and I can't take it with me. I am just trying to do what I can now that I took care of my sons. I always dreamed of someday having some extra cash to do the things that I wanted for years.

That's awesome! They are a tad expensive to most of the guys building bikes so they can pay the rent, eat, buy more bikes ::) etc. (myself included) But they really came out great!

I just wanted to post that picture again because it makes me laugh. Please feel free to spend your money on whatever you please, be it billet manta rays or a nice silk hat.
