Only issue I remember with the RL, rear tank mount breaks off, apart from that they were real reliable (even the plated cylinder was OK)

decided to do an oil change on the sidewalk and an older gentleman on a bicycle asked if I had any interest in a set of Triumph Bonneville handle bars...How much?I asked....he said Free.... and came back 5 mins later with them said he would drop off more parts later on.... 8)

Pulled the trigger today on a Randakk's DOHC-4 Master Carb Overhaul kit LINKY

DOHC_masterkit_large.jpg

I used his similar kit on my GL1100 and was very happy with the outcome. Initial price seems expensive, until you start comparing what you would have to spend if you bought 4 carb kits, plus air cut off valves, plus an accelerator pump kit... all of lesser quality Buna instead of Viton, and still not have everything you get in this "Master Kit".

I am going to bite the bullet on one of those kits soon too. I haven't had issues yet but I think I should freshen the carbs either this winter or next to prevent issues.

I decided to go with the Tarozzi rear sets.

And I ordered new clutch and throttle cables from DCC. Next week is going to be busy.

I'm picking this up in an hour for $40. Cracked windscreen. Will hang in my garage or on a wall or something till I decide what to do with it.

Tim, I put a massive windscreen on my 450 for my last trip to Troy's. It was hideous, but I got 5 more MPG, and it felt like I was riding in a car. I bet that fairing could me made to slip on and off a BMW fairly easily.....

Great minds think alike.

First thing I did when I got it home 15 minutes ago. Now, on and off easily might be a stretch given the bucket would have to come off the forks and into the fairing to be stationary. But, I might not mind a more permanent 'sport touring' setup on this bike.

Oh, and I'll also be travelling in dry comfort. Couldn't pass up an incredible deal on a jacket / pants combo BMW ComfortShell suit. Less than 1/3 the new price and it's barely been worn. The guy I got it from picked it up with a bike he bought from a lawyer. Bike had 3000KM on it, so at best, it's had that much time on the road, but likely far less.

Will be selling some of my other gear to make up the difference, but this suit cost me just a bit more than a pair of Olympia pants I was eyeballing.

The fairing would take some cutting by the cylinders to make it fit, but it's a good width. Needs a new screen, but again, for $40 on the fairing, another $100 for a screen and some paint, it's a pretty good deal. We'll see. Otherwise it goes into the rafters for a future project.

That windscreen will look pretty cool on the Beemer Tim.

I got new coils for the HD: Blew one up the other day. Open on the high tension side. :( Bought two new ones and I'll keep the one good old one for a spare.
