The last dedicated racecar we had was an '87 Z28 (similar... full cage, large slicks, 425hp). So we were initially looking at V8/RWD cars. But we were also interested in getting a couple of shifter karts and going karting. This bridged the two nicelyAlso, Redbird. MX5's makes great track day cars. Lots of parts out there for them, and they are quite fun to drive. My boss's son has a 340hp one with a full cage and on large slicks. It turns some decent times.
Did you try the Torc T-1 Retro bucket? The Bell doesn't fit me either but the Torc fits like a glove. Looks cool too, and cheaper -I wish the Bell's fit my noggin. Might try one on again. Been thinking about a Shoei 'Glamster' if I can get past the name of the lid. I know they fit.
