Rod, that seat looks great!! That is custom upholstery over your seat, right? Its not a seat that could be bought somewhere?

Nice score on the seat Rod but I hate you for the 850! hehe

And the TRX is a nice bike - I don't understand why Yamaha stopped selling them in Oz ???

Does anyone ever understand a marketing department's decisions? Finding one here in the States is really tough.

Yep Yamaha bought out the TRX to compete with the Ducati at the time! The engine is an inline twin with a 270 deg crank to give the sound of a V twin and the smoothness of a balanced 90deg V twin. It's light at 190Kg (418 pounds) and as i have removed the heavy factory mufflers and replaced them with light Yosh's it feels light on its feet.
The PO had the suspension set to F%$ken hard, (why do people thing that the harder the suspension the better the bike handles) so after a weekend ride i have the rear sorted and the front pretty close ;D

Oh yeah the Cafe seat is kinda cool to ::)

Hey man you always take the time to make good comments on other peoples posts. Thanks, it's riding season so you should be out working those local roads not sitting on the computer.  ;D

Diesel450, it started out as a very sad Bates cafe seat, too narrow and to long for the CB450. I cut it down the centre and widened it to fit the 450 frame, spent hours repairing the damaged glass, fetched in the tail light and put two coats of black GelCoat over the entire seat.
Finally sent it to a local upholster who just does motorcycle seats. I had him cover the seat in leather, pleated the same as the original Bates seat and with orange piping.
For fun i have fitted a repo Giuliari seat badge to the back that will confuse the "experts" Total cost around $300 Aus

I don't understand why the US didn't get these ??? You got the TDM (same 5 valve engine) so why not the TRX ::)
These have a cult following world wide and are a great cheep track bike for beginners and the like. I have been looking for a "nice" one for around two years and had to hold myself back on a couple of "ok" ones for cheep.
This one came up for sale in January and at the time it looked terrible in the photos, I finally went for a look when he drop $1000 from the price. After ten minutes it was mine, the factory pipes were taken off after 1500Km and stored in plastic and then boxed up so are perfect the rest is bloody nice ;D ;D with only a small mark on the tank!! She just loves the twisties :D :D

Nice Zookie!! Yep John did the seat for me and as usual took twice as long as he quotes ;D ;D just love him for that.
Been told by a good friend that was selling Duk's that the sales just weren't enough and they didn't steal any sales from Ducati so just pulled out, so sad. This one is a late 1999 Aus model not a grey import. Where are you located??

Yeah I'm pretty jealous.

I think we miss out on a lot of cool bikes here in the US for one specific reason. Harley Davidson.
I think there's some goofy, unsubstantiated rule that we're all bandana wearing, raggedy chopper guys or something.
We miss out on all the neat small displacement bike, we miss out on the cool genre defying bikes and anything else that doesn't fit a certain off-base criteria.
I'd arm wrestle a Nun for a TRX.

Yeah! - I often throw the fighter around those roads ;) We'll have to catch up and speak BS ;D

The GS? Haven't done much on it of late - kinda lost momentum with it (work, kids, life, etc). But I'll get back in the garage soon and get moving on it again.

Cheers mate ;D
