Project: Can't Get Right.

No - appliance epoxy is pretty odd stuff. It doesn't play well with others. And it's not gas resistant at all - so it's not good for the tank.

Get a can of it and experiment with some smaller parts. It certainly has its uses.

I will give epoxy a trial. I've been following some painting threads and people seem to be saying good things. Thanks for the advice on it. I doubt it will cover my bike but it might be used in a few key spots.

Did some more work last night. A new ignition that is supposed to help with reducing the load from the points and coils.

Apparently I've awoken some sort of electrical gremlin. I went out to start it and something isnt working right. The engjne will turn over bit it seems like it's not getting spark. I'm sure i just made a bad connection somewhere because i started it and rode it around when i first installed the ignition. tldr: making work for myself like everyone told me not too.

How do motorcycles work? Black magic. I think that my electrical problem is related to a bad ground and a drained battery. Took out the ignition and it fired right up last night. Sputtered and after fighting with it got it to run this morning so I could ride to work. Fingers crossed that i charged the battery enough to start for the ride home. If I have enough charge to ride home i will attempt to find a better ground for the ignition and give it a shot. Perseverance!

I've got one bar end mirror on but like a dumb dumb i cut off the throttle side grip forgetting about the throttle sleeve. Anybody know if i can just move all the controls up the handlebar and stick the mirror on, or i have to find some sort of solution to extend past the throttle sleeve and then flair out to attach the mirror to? Bueller?

You can actually cut the throttle sleeve as short as you like. The important stuff is in the housing where the cable attaches and where your startbutton is. Just make sure that you have enough room to move your hand around when twisting that throttle!

Got the mirrors figured out. Just slide everything up the handlebar. Problem solved.

The electronic ignition is still giving me a fit. Oh well. I'll just keep hooking and unhooking it until something either breaks for sure or it decides to work.

Finally broke down and bought electrical lubricant and cleaner for the connections to the ignition. OH LOOK PROBLEM SOLVED.
To reward your patients heres a picture of the current setup

So my bike is only running on two cylinders and shuts off at stoplights. Thats a feature right? It's clearly not getting spark on the two outside cylinders. It's probably the plug or wires or plug boots. Pain in the ass

Painting the exhaust. Needed something to do while the paint dries.

you can see big dents on the underside. I didn't want to spend a lot of time painting something I was going to get rid of when i had enough money. I just did this to make it look a little nicer.

Keep at it man. My bike's a constant work in progress and constant learning experience, I keep trying a couple things, riding it for a few weeks, then tearing it all apart to try a few other things. Your plight feels very familiar ;)

I like it, but who doesn't like a SOHC CB750? Now, toss that chrome exhaust can and slip in an intenal cylindrical cheese grater type baffle for that clean, racey look.

Just Google search for "drag pipe baffles" and tons will come up. Just be sure to get one that matches the inner diameter of your header's collector/ Then you'll have a Carpy-like exhaust for just a few bucks.

or you can put a small automotive style tip on there (perhaps still with baffle inserted) for a smaller look than your existing can. See how much better both of these look than the big MAC style step-up muffler?
