Re: Project "Caroline" CB350 Four

Woo! With a stash of parts like that it looks like somebody is hunkering down for a long winter of wrenching. Very nice. I dig those lights, where'd they come from?
Most everything I ordered came from DCC, if they had what I was looking for, I got it from them! The signals are solid aluminum body and that is why I liked them so much, I wanted amber lens but the clear is all they came in. Once I got them here I liked them even better as the quality of the part is great and the amber bulb inside the body shows through the clear lens well to give it a nice amber effect. I am getting another set from them and a fuel filter, they are shipped in another box and I should get it today or Monday. I also ordered one more part from them that is backordered until mid Feb. I got the coils from Ebay and the gasket set. Still to come from Ebay is a Dyna "S" cdi system and the EBC pads for the front.
I will be getting started on Caroline's transformation some time right after the first of the year. My plan is to build a bike that will look as if it may have been a low numbers factory model or concept. She will retain a rear fender (but shortened), side covers, and the factory paint colors/scheme (but it will all be repainted to look new). I am doing a good bit of polishing aluminum parts, keeping a good bit of chrome, and retaining all of the factory colors except the engine cases/jugs/head will be painted in a graphite charcoal color with polished fin edges.
There are still some things left to be ordered, but I will need to save up some more chedda for it, as I have blown my whole stash with these goodies. Still on the list are Racetech fork springs and emulators. Dual rate rear shocks for the rear and an assortment of little things that I have thought of and I know will come up as I go that I did not think of. I am ordering the factory paint soon, and no, this will not be rattle can! The last thing I will need to purchase to make her complete is a nice chrome MAC 4 into 1 exhaust. I have a genuine Yoshi exhaust that I scored at Barber's this year, but it is a bit beat up. I have begun to repair it, but with the welds and small dents that I am not going to try to repair, chroming that one will not work. To get the look as a whole that I am going for, I will need a nice shiny pipe.
Thank all of you for the kind words and the encouragement! It really is motivating to have guys that share your passion complimenting your work and design! I am very eager to complete this project as I fell in love with this bike over this summer of riding it. The small four is so much fun, it is like a game to keep the RPMs in the power range and send the little nimble bike through the twisties at 9000rpm! This bike makes cornering at 55mph feel like cornering at 90mph! If any of you have not experience a small four cylinder bike, please try it, but be warned....you will have to have one!
