Re-birth of MadMax.. ---- 79 Yamaha XS1100

and I'm thinking about adding some turn signal to the frame tubing.. so it will be flush in..
also made a under pan in front of the battery to set all the electrical wiring..
and the seat fit nicely even with that battery in it, I think I still have about an good inch before it even touch.

this is what it looks like on the bike..
the bike finally started last week, they had to go back to the old wiring hardness. the other oem wiring was just too much of mess to deal with.
they are going to finalize the wiring and add the alarm and tweak the push start system to work with the alarm, then bike will be back in one piece, and then tuning the carb.
Hopefully it will be all done by this week, and then I will take it to another shop to get the exhaust work on, so far, i'm thinking keep it the way it is, but just work the pipe to tuck in more on the low bottom, so the clearance will be greater in corners. Can't wait!!! It has been the longest 5-6 months!!! I'm ready to ride again!!!!

That thing is savage looking. It's too shiny to be a post-apocalyptic bike though ;)
Looking good, man.

thanks man! ha haa yea, I think I definitely have to come up with a new name for it. I'm going to finish the bike and see how I like it, i might possibly brush all the aluminum to age it a little bit? not sure?? i kind of like it shiny too!!

Wow, I got to admit I haven't checked on this thread in a while so I didn't know what direction it was heading. These pictures are amazing. That tank is gorgeous.

Thank you!! It's really good to get great feedback on the direction. Ive always love the classic, but it's always nice to have the durable of the modern feature. I'm really super happy on how it's turning out. Hopefully it will be done soon, and figure out some more little details then ride off to the sunset ha ha

The shop is still lacking on getting it done.. It's taking way too long! I think if they don't have the time to work on it, I will take it to someone else to work on the electrical.
made a little turn signal to plug into the end of the framing.

Finally!!! After long 9 months of changing design and the shop putting back together.. It's alive again.
I also had change out the CR carb on it as well, it was running 39mm, way too big for stock, and I don't think I'm planning to bore the engine or any other modification to it. So I had to swap out to a 33mm that was meant for it. ** So the CR39 special carb are for sale, if anyone interested, please pm me. it was originally used on a KZ, and I used for about 3-4 months.
It's running RFID and with push start, and everything works. I think I strip about good 80lb off of it? not sure, but it does feel lighter. and more nimble, but after all the suspension had change out, it actually drop about 2 inch in the front and maybe an inch in the back, so the exhaust is still a concern. I've got less ground clearance, hopefully I can find someone to help me reshape the pipe or custom make a new one. The electrical are definitely a lot cleaner, but there are still a little bulk beneath the seat that I want to clean up more.
everything on the speedo work too. which is nice. I might have to figure something out to put something underneath the tank to keep the tank a little cooler? not sure if that matters?
with the new CR carb, it does run a lot better, but at the starting low rpm, it does have a flat spot!! not sure if that's something to do with the vacuum system the XS are running? or might be some residue in the gas that need to be burn off?? will definitely get that check out soon.
but overall, the bike is running, and it's so nice to be able to enjoy the freedom of riding around.. but the other hand, I wish the weather could be a little cooler to enjoy it..
will update more later once I get it tune more... :D
