Barrels as pistons? Or cylinders? Sorry, english is not my native language.

Its in the casting on the front of the cylinders behind the exhaust headers.

Since I do not have it at my place, it's at my Mech's place, I cannot take a look. He says that there is nothing there, no CC stamped. Never mind, I'll take a look when I get cylinders in my hands.

Thank you very much for your input. As per piston size and transmission, we'll handle it as it is a CB400F in there, and we'll see if there will be a problem when new parts arrive.

In the meantime, I've done some work on the 400/4:

Cylinder studs cleaned and painted:

Here's some more update on the bike, while engine is on hold and waiting for parts...

More time at home, more time available to work on the bike :)

I have started to build the wheels. I have found some instructions and followed them. Firstly, the front one:

Then the last:

Added all that's needed to call it done and ready for balanacing and tyres mounting, which will be done by my local shop. Most of it are new parts, and whats old, it has been blasted and repainted/nickled.

Also, the middle air filter/battery mount has been mounted. All new hardware, all new rubbers. Still waiting for new rubber for winker relay, but, it's almost done. Also, the new installation has been put on the bike.

Under the mount, i have renew the drain tube housing, repainted it in off-white, replaced the rubber and added the breather tube:

New parts arrived, among other, the new ignition, and new coils from Dynatek. I have edited the mounts to accomodate the new coils .

That's about it for now.

Stay tuned.

So nice, So clean. Iirc, the plastic inner fender needs fit before the filter box goes in.

Thanks for the input, i have mounted it now. Actually, i've achieved a great milestone- rolling chassis.

Another question though for all gurus... What are these mounts for?

Should have paid more attention during stripdown...

I don't recall those two brackets. The horn maybe???
She is looking super.
Ive considered building new wheels.
What kind of rig do you have for trueing and centering hubs to hoops?
And how did you torque the spokes/nipples? Whats the torque spec?
Where did you buy the hoops and spokes?

Yeah, the bended one is for horn i assume, but I cannot figure out what's the other for... There's always something extra when I assemble things.

Spokes and rims are ordered from CMSNL. I don't know the exact torque numbers since i have assebled it by feel, and then took them to my tyre shop where all my bikes are taken care of when it comes to the wheels. They trued them, mounted the Metzeler ME77 tyres and then balanced it all.

I believe this is OK now, but will know for sure once i start to drive the bike arround. And I hope that will be as soon as possible. ;)

The smaller "Z" bracket might fit under triple tree to hold harness???

Hi all,

While I am in a wait for engine rebuild, the show must go on... :)

I have painted some things. The instruments were in okay condition, but the instrument faces were faded, as well as some corosion showing. So I started to overhaul them:

Paint stripped. The old instruments were painted in gloss black, and they should be in some kind of semi-gloss.

Tachometer was already dented and repainted.

Hope to put it all to bike in some time soon.

@trek97 - I do believe that the Z bracket is actuall horn mount. I do not know for sure, will see what bracket am I missing during the assembly. :D
