Take it out back guys.

There have been threads with pics of guns and knives before, and there will undoubtedly be threads about them again. We have threads with girls on motorcycles in various states of undress, discussions about politics and religion...

They're legal, people collect them, and sure, they don't have much to do with motorcycles, but at least now I know who's bikes not to steal.

Awesome pics men!

As to why guns, unfortunately anything can be fashioned into a weapon--even motorcycles. But to simply state that the US gun laws are too lax (which would indicate a problem with the said guns) just for sheer violent death statistics is a very hard case to fight, for a number of reasons. Most research seems to indicate that violent death rates in America are similar to those in other parts of the world, except that we are using guns instead of rocks for some of them. Take away the guns, and we will use rocks, too. The point can be argued ad nauseum, but I tend to agree with this thinking. Here is an interesting article explaining more:

http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcgvintl.html

The other data of this nature that I have researched shows some countries interchanging with others somewhat, but largey targets the US as pretty moderate for this sort of thing. So I don't really subscribe to high instance of gun ownership equating with high instance of violent crime/ death.

As far as I am concerned, the real issue is that guns are really a longstanding part of American culture, and as such cannot be fully understood by other parts of the world not accustomed to that culture. This much the same as why one would eat with chopsticks, live in an igloo, or drink Foster's beer! :D No reason for hating in that.

Just kidding about Foster's, of course...although I have seen it be as 'deadly' as my Glock too! ;D

Please please please let's not turn this into a gun debate, if you don't care for them, that is all well and good, if you love them more than life itself, also, well and good, but not every thread needs to be turned into wild debate of political opinions and statistics.

That being said, it's also not smart to argue with a man with a gun ;D .

If anyone in the RI/CT/MA area ever wants to go down to the range with me, let me know! I go all the time, and used to instruct Federal Officers, so I can even give you a tip or three for the cost of ammo

Love your Saiga 12 gauge LeadFoot. Just ran into the show "Sons of Guns" on Netflix the other day. They make some badass guns at that shop.

I may have 1 or 2...

Here's one of my favs~

I like hand guns, they're cool. But I'll never own one where I live because it's too legally restrictive. Unfortunately gun threads do exclude members from outside of the USA.

I respectfully disagree. I'm not the most well traveled person, but I'm fairly certain I've see guns outside the USA. Some of the guns in this thread were even made outside the US.

I also respectfully disagree with the idea that guns are only for killing. I own several guns. I don't have a loaded one in every room in my house or anything, I'm not THAT into guns. But I do enjoy owning them and shooting them. For the same reasons I enjoy owing and riding motorcycles. I enjoy anything mechanical. Anything that is finely tuned and crafted. And I enjoy improving my skills at things that interest me. None of my guns have killed anything. And I'd be willing to bet they never will. My Ducati was designed to race. But it wouldn't be accurate to say that the only thing it's good for it winning races. My Duc has never won a race, and it most likely never will. But I enjoy owning it and riding it just the same.

My mom (rip) hated motorcycles. They scared the hell out of her. She couldn't understand why anyone needed motorcycles. I tried to explain to her that it's not about need. It's about want. Enjoyment. But she didn't get it. And because she didn't get it, she saw no reason for anyone else to get it. I didn't get why she pressed leaves and flowers between the pages in her cookbooks. Sometimes people have interested that you may not get.

It's cool if your not into guns, but try to understand that some people like them for the same reason you like motorcycles. You don't have to get it, they get it. Not everyone who enjoys a fine fire arm is a crazed redneck waiting for the zombie apocalypse. And not everyone who rides a bike is a bad ass biker who rapes and pillages.

Also, I'm drinking Captain and Coke and maybe I'm just overly chatty. Please pay me no heed.

Well put ;)
It's like my Grandpappy used to say... "If everybody liked the same thing, we'd all be bangin' Grandma" :D

Not really a gun or a knife but also fine for hurting/killing people:

Here is a shot from when we did some target practice this last summer. A few guns are a friends, a few mine (XD-45, Marlin .22LR, Ruger LC9) and only 3 of my dad's (Stag Arms AR-15, 1911, Ruger 22/45...he has many more).

I do not want to make this a debate or start any trouble. Obviously, you can see where I stand on gun ownership but I understand that not everyone feels the same way or can own a gun for that matter (depending on where you live). I will say I have my Ruger LC9 for conceiled carry if I want to but I normally don't. I don't have these to go out killing people. I learned to shoot in the Boy Scouts with .22's and shotguns. My father, who is a middle school band director, got interested in shooting sports when I was in Scouts. He now is a trained NRA instructor for rifle, pistol, and shotgun and trains others to be instructors. He also goes out to Scout troops in the state and puts on training courses to teach boys gun safety/proper use/ etc.

thought this thread could do with a little bit of humour (all be it very predictable - and not very humerous - humour) ;)

Austrian.....those would be Glocks then?

Why would someone with NO interest in guns, open a thread with this title?
