Single Sided Swingarm

I'm thinking about putting a single sided swingarm on my 82 CB750. It currently has a F2 swingarm on it. I have seen a few done. What swingarm would fit the best without a ton of machine work to make it fit?

Science is true whether you believe in it or not.
So, so many reasons.

In my rarely humble opinion, single-sided swingarms are an engineering blunder. Maybe, just maybe, for certain racing circumstances where a tire quick change during the course of the race is important, one could justify the structural compromises that must be addressed for this engineering abortion. Otherwise, I consider single-sided swingarms to be stupid on bikes that came that way from the factory, and to try and engineer one to fit on a vintage bike is just trying way, way too hard to build something "cool" or different, to no real benefit otherwise.

It's just a dumb idea, period.

It's going to be a lightly ridden, carry to shows bike.

So, making the bike less functional is OK because it's for show?

Whatever floats your boat. Still a dumb fuckin' idea. :)

I'm doing that to my cb build, because it looks cool. End of story. I'm not going to push my bike to the limit or care that a fat tire doesnt grip any better. Maybe you think its a dumb idea because you're old.

Goest thou forth and fornicate thyself, forthwith.

Maybe I think it's a dumb idea because I an old enough to have the wisdom to see that. 8)

Well, that escalated quickly.

Haha. Kinda sucks no one has even answered your question...

Stupid or not, they look cool in my opinion and obviously in yours. If you have the cash and want to do it, then the only person you should listen to is the person that chimes in with the answer. There are some really cool, structurally sound threads on here. Maybe reach out to those guys?

us old fukers are funny like that  we cannot grasp the concept of modding a bike to be heavier, slower and handle worse

I recall seeing a KZ900 once with a VFR400 single sided swing arm on it - it was chosen as it was not as wide at the pivot point as the 750/800 arms (and had a narrower rear rim to match the chain line).

If you have access to a mill and a lathe to turn up some spacers you won't be far off making one fit.

Do you know how heavy they are? I had an RS250 Honda race bike resto a few years ago and that thing was heavy enough. It was follwed in bya VFR750 race bike - yes you read that right. And that swingarm was ridiculous. Still looked cool though

In a suitably stiff frame they look way cool IMHO
