sl 350 cb 350 cl350 new rear brake cable?

You can't buy a new 71-75 SL350 rear brake cable anywhere that I have found. You can have one made by someone that makes cables, or make one yourself. However, the only problem usually with then is the outer plastic housing cracks and comes off, but the cable still works fine. I peeled all the plastic off of mine and them split a piece of black hose and slipped it around the cable. It looks like a new cable, only it's black instead of the original grey color. Check it out in my SL build log. The plastic tubing I used is from Home Depot I think and it was for like a kitchen sink spray nozzle or something. Like 3/8" ID.

That's not a bad idea ether cyclhed mine is cracking off and idk if its any good or not yet... waiting on the man in the brown shirt and pants that brings me my motorcycle bits. Another thought other than plastic tubing would be something like plasti dip. water could get under the tubing and rot the metal. A good thick coat of plasti dip would give it a good look and keep everything dry.

Thanks for the PIC and info! Im getting my brakes tomorrow and ill get to see it the rear cable is work anything when I get it back on the bike. But I might switch to this setup for satiety sake.

Another thing to think on is will the rear brake "Activate" when the suspension is compressed since the whole rear end of the bike moves up. the brake stay arm is connected to the swing arm ( I think im not right next to the bike now) and the brake rod would be connected to the frame a non moving part. And since the brake actuate arm is above the center point of the wheel it would be pushed away from the main part of the frame aka the brake leaver. So in turn it would be causing the rear and to brake...

I know that was a bit deep, hope yall had your boots on for it but does anyone get what im saying?

It may be such a little amount that it wont matter but if you completely compress the rear end by lets say jump the bike it might make the rear end lock up when the rear end compresses and moves up. But I don't have the setup so xb33bsa might have to let us in on it.
on my setup the brake will not lock up when the suspension compresses
i have rotated the splines at the foot pedal so that the rod pull is very close to the swinger pivot
if you don't do this it will be an issue

Ok that makes since ill have to go take a look at my bike to see how the stock setup looks like. But first im going to try the stock cable since its there and may be usable.
