So-Cal riders

Gee I wish lane-splitting was legal anywhere else in the U.S., but it's not. I grew up in the Chicago area, and drivers would open their doors on guys trying that.

I've heard stories of people doing that here in CA too, even though it's legal people think they have the right to enforce their misconception of the law

I haven't heard of people doing that in Cali, but I've seen people crowd the lane if a motorcycle was splitting lanes while traffic was stopped.

crowding for sure. most do a casual drift in towards the line. I think it's jealousy on the cagers part...I mean, I know when I'm driving my truck in traffic and I see a bike in the carpool lane or splitting - I'm jealous as hell and wishing I was on my bike ;D

just pulled this off the Deus blog

I've been "nudged" into the line by people. several times I've had cars push past ME while in the lane...thinking cuz I was a narrow bike they could just pass me while in the same lane. I've had cars race passed me and cut me off cuz at some point I passed them by lane splitting miles back and they finally caught up to me. As a result, I've become comfortable kicking fenders... ;)

I've been out here for a few months now, and I'm not going to lie, the first time some one did it to me I was very confused driving in my car. Now I'm every time someone gets to the front of the traffic waiting for a light on their bike...

solid! what was the route?

So darksidephoto and I are going to be riding this weekend. We plan to leave from Costa Mesa, head through Laguna Canyon on the 133 and then continue south when we hit PCH. Nothing in particular planned...just getting out to enjoy the hopefully good weather. We'll probably do this on Sunday 5-26-13...maybe leave around 10a. Let us know if you're interested in joining!!

I might be down to join you guys. Were you guys at the vintage bike meet in Huntington about a week ago?

we certainly were :) darkside and I were on our cafes, and our other buddy was on darkside's stock CB350. great showing. always some vincents, royals, velocettes, triumphs, etc...mainly an older crowd, but they are cool and love to talk bikes!
