? Phillips screw #23, visible in the pic ? Yes, thats the shift drum. AND It appears that part #9 (star, cog, plate lookin thing) in both trannys is different. The six speed has an extra shift selection stop point...the five speed doesnt have...for the added gear. So, yes you will have to swap this.
ALSO, your clutch will be different...GOOD NEWS, your CJ clutch will work w the CB. I found I have a CJ clutch in my CB w the 6 speed.
Im not sure what I want to do with it yet, I know im going to bore it out but I want it for the interstate I think... at least ill have it if decide to do it
Check the gear ratio's between the two, I think top gear is the same or very close.
I'm running stock 360 sprockets, 17/34 and don't worry about being on I-4 (except for the usual crazy drivers)
alright for all of you still watching I got last minute travel orders to Texas last weekend so ill finally be able to get some work done this weekend. Can anyone recommend some good rearsets? what are yall running?
Thats a nice set up!
I was thinking about getting a set of Durgam Ks since i want to support the people on the forum but I really want to cut my passenger hoops off
I kinda wish I had left mine in place. It would have made mounting ANY rearsets a lot easier. Also, I like to ride with a bit of lean and the idea of dragging a fixed peg makes me more than a little nervous. Otherwise, I would have looked to buy from him as well.
I like to lay over as well... guess ill have to take some more time and thought on that one. Umm another noob question, how do I get my old copper exhaust gaskets out?
quick update
Got the frame all the way apart yesterday cleaned and it took it to the car wash to spray it down real good like
Also got my valves cleaned up with a cup brush today.
Plans for the week, get all the parts over to NAPA and have them washed real good, take my cylinders somewhere to have them bored out.... and begin reassembly!!
You have to remove 'R' clip on shift fork then get the pin out, I have pics of it being replaced in 360 build/blog, first page or two
You probably have to remove the neutral 'switch from sprocket side as well so shift drum can slide out.
It wasn't really necessary to remove the drum detent
