If you're going I-81, then you'll go through Bristol. There's a few on Lee Highway in Bristol. Not a bad halfway stop.

Nice, I'm on 81 now.. May stop here tonight, anymore info on the camping site near Lee Highway?

There's one called Shadrack that's on Volunteer highway that's cheap and allows tents- like $25/night. All the camping in Bristol is car camping or RV camping that's geared for the Bristol races. You're not going to be in the wood necessarily. But, if you're just looking for a place to drink a couple of beers and pass out, they'll fit the bill. Shadrack's # is 423-217-1181. I've only gone for the races, so I'd call ahead and make sure they'll take you this time of year. I don't see why they wouldn't. I can't remember which of the Lee Highway campgrounds allow tents. My parents have an RV, so I know those spots better.
