Squirley's Kawi H1 build thread

Anything new to report? ??? ???

I love this bike! :D :D

Thanks Drewski, I really do appreciate the support and interest.
Unfortunately from my motorcycle production stand point, I am in the middle of a double masters degree, so my time is mostly used for other activities.
Over the weekend, I opted to work on the bike instead of watching the super bowl (I know...I know) and was able to get a new oil tank bent up and tacked together before I ran out of argon. Now i am waiting on some threaded weldin bungs for the AN fittings... little bit at a time at this point.

I will post pics as soon as I get a decent amount done...

Well, here is take two on the oil tank, let me know if it is any better. Before you say "what the HELL!" the back portion of the tank (the parts that are covering the shock now) will be cut down to only the width of the frame rail. The back triangle part will be trimmed up about 3-4".

Dont worry, the welds will be smoothed then polished... I am new to welding aluminum sheet

And Drewski, I just saw your message, I will get some measurements of the TZ seat for you... any dimensions in particular?

looks good to me but I thought the other one looked good too, so what do I know. For those seat dimensions I would give the width at the tank, width at the rear, height and length and the length of the seat pan. I think that should cover it. Man you need to drop out of school till you finish this thing then you can go back ;) Keep it up

To me, the current oil tank looks fine. I'd just run with that. Personally, I don't like the idea of premix.

Ya, that would be great!! Thanks!!

I agree with thompsonmx100, focus on the build! School later!! ;) ;D ;D

Great work bud!! 8) 8) 8)

the oil tank looks good, but i am not a fan of the tz tail it doesn't go with your tank. other than that you have alot of talent sir. i would like to meet up some time to go for a ride.

Heres some update... called it quits on the oil tank for now, it was pissing me off... so.... I got some sheetmetal cut and formed, and now I have started tacking them together.
First one is tacked, with a long way to go...

let me know watcha thiink!

What type of program did you use to get the dimensions for the pipes? One thing I don't have is sheet metal tools. What type of faciity are you doing this in? Custom pipes are the way to go to get what you want if you have the time, especially considering the price tag of prebuilt pipes.

Looks sick...Gonna be really cool looking when the other two are added and interwoven with the first...keep up the good work.

custom expansion chambers?
this thread gave me a hard on.

you better ride the tits off that bitch when shes done! ;D ;D

(it is a two stroke, of course =])

boy stuff moves fast on this board...
Finished tacking the left hand pipe and put it up for fitment. In the pics, the right hand pipe has yet to be tacked, so that is why you see gaps in the sheetmetal bends... hope you like. Keep in mind, all three will exit one side, its a tight ass fit under there.

Just getting caught up on this one and it seems another kick ass build. You have the exhaust all tucked in there for sure. Generally I like more sweeping bends and even though there is alot going on there with the tight bends, I like it.

I LIKE!!! This thing will look pimp when you get the third chamber in there and welded up all the way. The "jagged" look will look nice once it all comes together. Keep posting more pics!

This thing looks like it would sling you off and kick your ass if you didn't ride it like a cheap hooker!

It is just begging to run!

It does look like a kick ass ride, huh? ;D ;D ;D

Squirley....you already have the 550...but as much as I hate to say it...this bike is going to be 10 times that bike!

Kawi smokers simply kick ass. ;)

Thanks for the comments guys... to tell you the truth, I wasn't so sure about the interweaving bends myself, but the more I look at it, the more they are growing on me. I am happy they all tuck up under the belly and exit very closely to the side of the swing arm.
And dont worry, I am definitely going to ride the pants off this thing!
