Not to fight with you or anything Oxford, but I say he should at least try running the K&Ns first.
I've had some big problems with the UNI filters getting clogged with 2 stroke oil from carb blowback. I got it jetted in perfect, the filter clogged with oil, and it seized my bike . I switched to the K&Ns and haven't had a problem with them. The main problem with jetting them right is having everything else set up the same. Pipe dimensions have to be exactly the same, as with porting, float heights, etc. Your problems will show up more and more as you increase the air flow through the engine. Faster bikes need more exacting tolerances and better flowing filters.
