SR500 build

It's not possible for me to do things half assed lol. Thing is, it's so silly to make a nice tail then not french in the light. It's very easy to do.

The exhaust will be stainless with a shorty Lossa reverse megaphone muffler.

Yeah it didn't look terribly difficult, well worth the results. And if you're in the market for a reverse cone muffler, try these guys:
http://www.coneeng.com
I bought my shorty reverse cone muffler from them and saved a good bit of money over other companies that sell them.

Grate looking thumper! And the watch/clock is SICK!! Might have to look into doing that on a bike in the future if you don't mind!?

Of course! I sincerely hope that any of the ideas that I come up with can be modified and personalized for others projects! I get many ideas from others as well.

Only small updates. (too busy!)

I painted the lower seam of the tank. It makes the tank look smaller and blends the bottom line of the tank in with the seat base.

Looks much better.

Time to make the seat. I used 1/4in plywood with grooves cut about 1/3 of the way through sitting in a pan of water on top of the wood stove to boil for an hour or so to soften the wood fibers.

Clamping it down to the tail piece to form the required curve

All clamped down and back on the stove to quick dry with more heat.

After about an hour it holds its shape well...

...but I wanted to make sure it held it's shape when the upholsterer covers it with foam and black leather so this steel flat bar was rolled and held down with T nuts and screws. Everything on the bottom of this base must be flush so the seat will sit tight to the steel tail piece.

Trimmed and sanded to shape.

Added 4 "T" nuts for mounting the seat to the base. Now off to the upholsterer.

Hmmm? Good idea.. Did a similar process. Only after shaping the seat pan, instead of the steel flat bar. I applied a layer of epoxy resin.

Resin was the original idea, but I didn't have any at the time and I wanted to get the base done. I still may do it but this works just as well, maybe better.

Nice bike all the way around, one exception.. I would put a picture of young Elvis in place of the watch, ha ha.
Cheers, 50gary

Making a little progress, but not nearly enough lol.

Made this manifold for air testing the fuel tank for leaks.

New switches are a tight fit on the clip ons.

Fabbed up a nice aluminum bracket. It will be painted black once I clean it up a bit.

Speedhut sells them. They have a vast selection and and you can customize your gauges endlessly for no extra charge. Available in MPH or KPH. Cool thing about them is they are only an inch deep. Cost me about $300 for both.

Thak you wery much for the info.
Then i can ditch the bicyclecomputer i was thinking of!
Cheers Jorgen

Lol, no worries. I was struggling with the whole bicycle speedo or enduro computer as well as trying to make a speedo drive work with a hub from one bike, forks from another and brakes from a third, but none of those worked for us or the theme of the bike. These look standard but are hi-tech and I like that. Fair warning, they are NOT waterproof but they will add extra sealant at no charge if you ask.

Can't believe I've missed this build for so long. I'm keen to see more updates as the build quality is superb.

Hey thanks neevo. I'll have some updates soon but it's been slow going with the holidays, a new grand daughter and EXTREME cold weather, even for my part of Canada lol. My garage is not well insulated so when its -30c trying to heat it is a losing proposition lol.

Still such a sweet build!!! Might be a dumb question but does that speedo run off gps? or is the brand GPS?
