STAINLESS STEEL BOLT SETS

When contemplating replacing OEM fasteners with stainless steel, remember that common stainless steel does not have the strength of common alloy steels and should not be used for critical, highly stressed applications.

not true at all, common steel alloys are generally not stronger than stainless alloys... some of the higher strength steels are stronger, but on average, a stainless bolt will be stronger than a regular steel bolt unless it is hardened

RockcityCafe,
I have to politely agree and disagree with you.

It is true that stainless has a higher tensile strength over steel but the yield strength is the same. As a result the design load will be the same as steel.

A standard Grade 5 bolt is equivalent to the Metric 8.8 that is in these bolt kits. I would not use these standard bolts in critical areas. (suspension etc.)

There are high-strength magnetic (martensitic) stainless bolts that are hardened but they are not in these kits (and expensive)

Don't forget to use copper or silver anti-sieze on these stainless bolts.

Peace,
David

Previously I recommended Burk's Bolts based on my previous bolts sets I bought from them. I ordered a CB750 set on May 12, 2009 and nothing happened. No e-mail, no package, so I -mailed and left voice mails. Nothing. Filed a complaint then elevated to a dispute through Paypal. No response and Paypal "resolved" the case WITHOUT returning my money. F!#kers.
I am going to my Bank and Credit card company next... Avoid Burk's Bolts aka West Coast MC.

"UPDATE: Paypal screwed me!

F&*king Paypal. I have paid their fees during hundreds of transactions thinking they had my back. They ruled in my favor but will not pay??? "Recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed" WTF am I paying for??????

I am working with my bank and credit card company to reverse payment and get my money. $32.95 is not the end of the world, but now it is the principle of the matter and I am going to get my money back from someone no matter how much time and effort it takes.

Just used these guys (Stainless cycle) for a bolt kit. I was having trouble ordering and the guy emailed back and forth until i was able to get them ordered. 110% on their customer service.

Just checked yesterday, they have no inventory in their ebay store, I guess if you want a set, email them.

i was just about to post this up..

the guys from stainless cycle are actually really good dudes.
greg used to own a badass bar in youngstown called the nyabinghi.. amazing bands, and a great hole in the wall bar.. he lost the land through some sort of land contract deal and went off to start stainless cycle.

between myself and a few friends around town weve bought a few of the bolt kits and have always received them very quickly (he lives a state away now) i will be buying sets for both my cb750 and cl350 shortly.

i would absolutely recommend the site to anyone.. outside of the ebay store he also has a website www.stainlesscycle.com which seems to have less then the ebay store, but if you contact him through the site im sure hell find, or make for that matter anything you want.

Be careful with SS bolts in "important" places... certain alloys are NOT as strong as may other metals... I know our formula team NEVER uses stainless for just this reason.
