Suzuki GS 1000

hook up airbox, then try. these carbs/motors are very finicky without the airbox

+1 Make sure the air box is on, I am assuming they are stock jetting and if that is so those carbs need some resistance on the air flow otherwise it is way too lean for it to fire up.

Thanks, going to try this. Just bought me some new spark plugs and sparkheads(if you call it that way?).

Will be posting progress about the engine soon. Many thanks for the information.

If anybody knows a site with good seats for a GS1000 (typical cafe racer seat), please let me know!

You and I are in the same boat essentially. I have found a few different sites that have some good cafe seats although not sure which one I am going with since I don't quite think the one I like will fit the frame and match the tank, I am probably going to end up making my own seat. Check out hotwingglass.com, dimecitycycles.com, roccitycafe.com. Each of them have some great seats, just want to measure your frame to make sure they are wide enough since your bike is a wee bit bigger than the "normal" cafe.

http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vintage/prodvintage.html does a good job of showing the dimensions written right on the seat pan in the "More Photos" views of their products...
