T-rex TX500 yamaha..."No Regrets"

Heck yeah Joe!!!!!

Love the visor on your bike! Looks so retro!!!! Perfect!

And +1 on the help finish shop movement! I have nothing but a 35x35 pad poured right now. I've been trying to save up for that butler building I've had my eye on. Thank god for the pops having one that's finished...

And guys, put on those long johns and get to work! Slackers! ;D ;)

Just takes a few days and some bourbon in your coffee to get used to it. I'm planning the CB200 and the Benelli 125 buillds now!! Though the Benelli will be in the basement ::)

well it is cold as hell here as well... still put 75 miles on the cafe though!!!
also laid some more insulation on the top of the garage and bought a ventless heater that i am going to tap into my gas line coming into the house... will be nice to work in a T shirt and shorts in there!!!

We should be like the Amish and all go around and help each other finish our garages. I've got the same problem. Butt ass cold. I would be out there right now too.
HA! thats a great idea!

Hey Diesel your only 4.5 hours from me. If I could still get the GL out of the shed I would run down this weekend ;D got 6" of snow now  It will have to be spring. I go every year to my in-laws Time share in North Conway NH and we always stop in Portland for some shopping at the big Maine Mall. I will be biking it this year on either the 450 or the GL1000. I should PM you in May and maybe we can go for a ride. Can't wait to get on a bike and ride the white mountains. Some of those rodes are twisty!

Absolutely! If you get to Portland I'll buy you a beer for sure. Maybe we can get a group or Northeast dtt'ers to meet up in North Conway for a ride. I'd be happy to help coordinate that as well. I just hope I have something to ride :-[ No runners at the moment. I'm working on an XS650 as my rider for next year.

Well I might be able to help there, If my Father in law gets his licence in April as planned we will be trailering one fo the bikes down and I am sure you could borrow one for a ride in the mountains. Although I shouldn;t offer then you will have motivation to finish! I'll Pm you as soon as I have the week in May determined.

Cheers.

= while i had the bucket open I made a cap to close up the open spots in the back of the lamp housing... (when i would ride where the wires fed into the bucket, was open so at night the light would shine right in my eyes... not anymore)

Hey joe, just wondering what you did to fasten the visor onto the bucket?

as stated above, the headlight comes out and the chrome ring on the outside of the light itself is what secures it to the lamp... i love the look!

I got my visor off ebay so its either a crappy one or the seal on my bucket is not tight enough to hold it in place... keeps falling out of place, and the metal seems to thin to weld.

Love the look though on your bike!

almost had a heart attack yesterday! fired up the harley, the wifes bob, Cb500, enfield, kz200, and then went over to the cafe, i figured the battery would be really low and she would not wnat to start... but, ONE KICK! i almost died when she fired right up, ONE F'N KICK!!!! yesterday, yesterday was a gooood day ;D

whats up,

Joe, you have a cb500??
if so i need some help.
i just bought a cb500 carb kit, from e-bay. it is a keyster kit.
i installed it in the carb and every thing fit. the problem is the slow jet, compared to the old one the body on the new one is shorter and smaller in diameter. they are both a #40 jet, they both are the same at the part that screws in, only differance is the part that sits in the bowl.

if you could help it would be great,
the kit is a stock one.
i just don't want to install and then have to remove again.

also, did you get the SA back, would love to see some pics of the 350 with the arm and wheels mocked up. thinking on doing that next winter to my cb500, love the look of the frame mods and stance.
any way, thanks
later.

that is weird when i got my kit it was the same way, i put in a stock rebuild kit in mine as well, hooked it all up and it all worked fine, my float adjustmetn on one was off so i got gas all over everything... when i called jets-r-us they said somethign about how it is the hole that matters (thats what she said) so i went with it... but i have not put much love into the CB500 yet... that is the wifes next build so i have to wait for the shop to get a bit warmer before she will hang out, even with the furnace going she still complains about being cold.

i am also not the real go to on jetting and crap like that, to be frank i suck at it... most of my bikes i have tuned after i finish building them from a buddy here local, he is the wizard with these old suckers and is cheap... so i let him rock it

There's something to be said to paying a pro to do some things. I'm....competent....at jetting carbs but there are guys who just 'feel' it and can tune'm like it's nothing. There's a Kat here in town with a shop called Cycle Metrics and he can tune carbs like it's.....well like they're going out of style.

sorry....couldn't help myself.....

I picked up a few MegaSquirt controllers (still waiting on the MicroSquirt) for doing EFI conversions. Still the plan but I have so much other shite to do. Cool thing about EFI, and moreso for the DIY conversions is that they are so SO tunable. If you have an old ratty PC or laptop to keep handy you can control every aspect of the fuel injection, ignition control, lots of accessory outputs that can be purposed for anything from shift lights to basic transmission control in later cars to GPS/Cell interface....just about anything you can think of....and probably a boatload I never have....

Yeah I'm an EFI whore!

OOH hell ya! on my Harley i use a screaming eagle race tuner, i can adjust all my tables, do my warm up sequence, even view play back of the run... it is awesome, still have to dyno to get it truely dialed in after any types of motor mods (cams heads etc) but for just intake and exhaust it is cake walk with a good tuner
