Hi folks, I finally tracked down a new bike for the next project (see the first one here: http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=33668.0):

With a view to go a similar vibe as the 350, but a bit different:

CB750 Concept-16 rear.jpg

The first one was an exercise in learning mechanics etc, this one is more geared towards fabrication, so I'm learning to weld and fabricate etc. Stuck in temporary accommodation at the moment while we try to find a house, so it'll be a slow start, but once I get up and running it should be a fun ride...

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

After posting on the 'Isabel' thread, I am relieved to see you're using a second donor!

I'll be following this thread with bated breath.

Crazy

Let me guess...I'll bet it was advertised as a cafe racer right?

Seriously though, I just finished reading about isabel, and had to pop over here. What a fantastic build that is, and can't wait to see what you do with this one.

cheers

I particularly like how they didn't bother to shorten the control cables!

Crazy

Stoked for this one. Loved the detail of the first. The second will surely be fantastic. I look forward to what you can create this time.

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Can't wait till I do, mate! Hopefully not too far away. I get to start chasing parts in the meantime!

Seems I might have put a few folk's nose out of joint over at sohc4 forums though... http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=136511.0

Ignore them Noddy. There is always a band of myopic hard-liners with a grudge against anything other than a full restoration. God, how many restored CB750s are out there already. It's not as if they're a rare thing. Go for it, not just to piss them off, but to build the bike YOU want.

cheers

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

The guy that called the manuals "bibles", his bikes "saviors", and the forum, a religion. Might need to up the dose on his meds a bit. ::)

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Heh, it does seem there are a few zealots over there...

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Well, if you're bored it's getting even better over there... Geeezzz...

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Yeah I've pretty much stopped posting over there.
Bunch if crazies like the vjmc people. Count me out.
I'm in for this one though

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

HA! Just read the whole thing.

Gotta say, make that douche pay up and get everything you need and a tig welder out of the deal. Kick him in the balls on you way out too.

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Wow! Terry's offer sounds pretty decent to be sure but I want you to build it just to fuck with 70CB750. That guy is obviously a dickhead. I'll be watching both threads. One for education, the other for entertainment. ;D

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

I think you should just put the bike in a big cauldron, melt it, and mail the ingot to Terry.

I enjoyed the thread at HT and will happily follow this one as well. To the saw!

Yeah, he actually makes Terry look half reasonable...

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Subscribed. Busiest time of the year from me but I hope I some how find time to follow progress. Good luck brother I know you'll knock it out of the park.

Re: Take 2: CB750K2 Steampunk Bobber Thing

Wow, just wow. By the comments on the other thread, you'd think you were beating Paul Hogan with a chain.

Please post many pictures of frame-cutting goodness, and smash your leftover stock parts with a hammer.
