man shops and bike companies are swamped right now... i know we are a min of 2 weeks out right now... not sure what you have going on with them but they are a smaller company bud
I thought my stuff from mikes would show up faster than the stuff coming from China, but next week will be week three of waiting for parts from mikesxs, meanwhile everything from China has managed to get to me a lot faster.
I'm just being impatient, too excited to get this thing back on the road
Edit: I put the project off for a year, and now I'm complaining about three weeks haha.
Got the new rear MC mounted, had to weld in some tabs for the reservoir and relocated mounting points, still chipping away at the rest. I need to repaint some parts of the frame, then I can start putting things back on the bike
Your bike is gonna have some nice lines. Can't wait to see it with a fresh paint job. Btw, if you haven't ridden the bike yet, let me tell you these xs500 engines really pull and sound amazing. Your gonna be super happy knowing you took your time like myself. Can't wait to see more.
I finally got a chance to get the wiring buttoned up, I ended up mounting the rectifier on the underside of the tray to allow for better cooling. You can see the CBR1000 integrated light that I am going to run. I just need to trim the hump so that you can actually see it, but I think it really flows with the shape of the hump and frame. Cheers
I took another close look at your photos. I am amazed they put a pull bar on the right side of the bike on top of already having one on the left. That's just weird. I can't imagine putting my boot down on the center stand and pulling up from the right.....but i guess some people might need help.

I mainly just eliminated the automatic turn signal canceler and the wires associated with it, and the stuff for the starter that I won't be using, as this will be kick only. Other than that just a lot of cleaning up the runs and trimming everything to fit where I wanted it.
Thanks for all the positive comments guys There probably won't be much progress for the next week or so, I'll be in New Orleans over the weekend, and don't want to start any tasks I can't finish before I leave.
nice. always loved those mirrors. Saw them first on the Triumph Thruxton, but not sure if it's a tad big for the xs500. What i would like to know if anyone makes a headlight with modern bulbs (not amber yellow) that fit the yamaha xs models.
I just noticed something that could help the look up your bike. I saw you have that empty gap and brackets for the 7/8 handbars. One option would be to grind it down and fill in the holes for it to look smooth.
The other option I think you should do is cut a section off your old handbars. to fill that gap. Then you could use it to mount stuff like a GPS or clock down the road. A nice 4-5 inch chrome piece would look nice.
