You going individual carbies on this? Thought they only ever came with two from the factory, not four. If so...awesome 8)

All the 1000's and 1100's were four carb setup from the factory. Holy hell Hoosier that polishing makes my GL look like a piece of shit. I got to get a friggin garage so i can take all the parts off her this winter and properly give her a go.

Lookin awesome man!

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Man I friggin love all the interest in this build!!! I would like to get on at work and post updates but it’s banned for language content…too bad you Cocksuckers cuss so God-damn much. FUCK!
Whew..OK, I was saving pics of the seat until it was done then gonna spring it on ya, but here is where it is now.. Stretching, cementing, and clamping the cover, starting in the center and working my way out to the ends, almost there…

And yes, as Maritime said, 4 carbs. Joined to a center intake plenum where the filtered air comes in and then out the sides to the individual cylinders via the runners I just polished.
They’re on deck for a total rebuild. I already bought the top-o-the-line Randakks carb kits, $200 bones for a bag of o-rings in special shapes and sizes, They are Viton not normal Buna material DUR-A-BLE! And a bunch of hard to find clips and seals that you just can’t get anywhere else.

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

That seat is wicked man. Really nice work as usual! The shape is exactly how I would want one. like I said I'll be livin through you for awhile ;D.
200 bones for a box of o rings though kind of brings me back down to earth though. Makes me realize I'm a ways off from doing something...

And yes these ass holes cruse too much ;D ;D

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Fuck that seat looks great ;) :D

What kind of glue are you using on that sucker?

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Sheeeeetttt!!! I love that movie. It single handedly sparked my love of music and blues.

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Ah, its still running the original 4-1-4 intake manifold setup, gotchya. Not totally up to scratch with the wheelings and dealings of these engines but knew it all came from a single point or two. If I ever do one of these its seriously getting direct single carbs...

Awesome seat, too...this is going to really look the part. Not to mention go like hell haha.

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Got the seat done!!! She's a little dusty, and the Wheels are back off for painting / new tires, but you can get the idea…

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Have at it! I am real Happy with the look and feel!
Got the foam off e-bay from fabricandfoamsales
I originally inquired about a medium density foam the had an auction and they let me know it wouldn't be suitable for a Motorcycle seat, I would be happier with some other "2860" foam they were getting, thats what took so long. I appreciated their honesty, some places would said "Yeah, it'll be fine" and taken my money.
You can buy it in 24" lengths but I went for a piece 1 x 21 x 48 that cost $12.50, and shipping was $6.50 for a total of $19.00.
So for less than $20 I got enough to do the GL seat (two layers in the important places) and still had plenty left over for the cafe' seat on my "Lil Sister" CB350F.

thanks man just contacted the seller! great tip!
I still have the original epoxy covered styrofoam I used for a buck gar-un-teed to fit a GL1100.
Let me know how close of a copy you really want to make. ;)

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

man that would be awesome! if i was to send you some $ can you send me that or make me a fiberglass pan? i will pay of course!

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Next step...
Removed the old cracked Dunlops, thoroughly prepped the wheels, installed metal valve stems, mounted the Bridgestone Spitfires, then carefully masked them off with 1/4 " green tape and moved up to 2" blue and newspaper. I bit the bullet and used the silver Duplicolor wheel paint. Unbelievable amount of solids in that paint, then used the same brands recomended clear-coat. I was worried about the clear in the humidity we are having but WOW sparkling metalics really came to life when the clear cured by morning.

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

Really nice work! GL's can be a handful, but you can't let 'em know you're scared...they smell fear...

Call me nuts, but once the wife's bike is done, I'm looking for a GL1200 for a cafe project, MY size. These little bikes are neat, but I outweigh most of 'em, at 6'3" and 285 lbs. I'm looking forward to seeing how this build, and JRK's turn out.

Re: The "Bomber" my GL1100 project

stoked to see the wheels man! that to me makes or breaks a bike, have you thought of getting a wheel stripe for them like what is used on sport bikes? it would add a nice touch and be easy to remove if you do not like it, cost you like 7 bucks
