The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Anyone having problem with the spark? mine seems to have very tiny spark and not very consistence :'(. Mech told me that magnoto coil have some problem.

Bike running well, putting a big smile on my face and attracting a lot of interest. Still only 250km on the clock.

Looking to tweak it a bit more,,

Story so far performance wise...
EGR removed
Skyteam derestricted chrome pipe
Iridium plug
OO Racing rejet
34T rear sprocket

Full choke to start and ride off, 1 min later half choke, 1 minute later no choke (so mixture seems right?)
Running cleanly through the gears once choke off
Just about enough ooomph to get away from the lights, would not want any taller gearing I don't think
Only getting indicated 80km/h top speed and feels slightly juddery at that, prefers to be held just off full throttle

What would you recommend next to get a bit more top end (other than the 150 upgrade)?
New air filter
New CDI?
New coil?
New plug cap and lead?
Or just wait for another few 100kms to see what happens?

Hey 2b
^^^^^ as per Crazy 's comments !
then carby upgrades
with air intake improvements would be my call
dont do it all at once !
you get to feel each upgrade and
appreciate which gave the best result by
taking it step by step.
I've had a year of fun doing so!
cheers ACEitup

Hi 2b, sounds like your doing the right things. like Aceitup says"one thing at a time"
This way you can tell what is making a difference and what's not.
mine has STD coil and lead (no need to change unless it packs up)
As for the air filter, What I did was to get a malossi air filter element from some other model and use my original filter as a template and cut out a new one.
Mine has a 00 racing CDI on along with a 36 tooth rear sprocket.
Also I have a shengwey carb with about a 95 main jet in and the Ace revs that hard that it tingles through the H/bars. Not that I dare ride the poor thing at that rate for long.
Cheers.

Blown the bulb in front L indicator. Dumb question but how do I get to it? Doesn't appear to have any screws to undo.

I will be swapping over to different indicators later, but for now I need to get the stock one going again.

Cheers
Richard

Cheers was thinking it must be something like that but didn't want to crack it.

my indicators have a little slot where the lens meets the body on the top side, i just put a thin screwdriver in and they popped out

Closer inspection showed no slots, but three divots around the outside in the chrome and the lens would rotate about 1/8th turn but no further. So levered it off from that point to find it is threaded and supposedly would screw off and on. Levering did little damage to the thread.

Found the new indicators (that will get fitted later once new headlight arrives) have an identical bulb, so borrowed one of them and snapped the lens cover back in place as couldn't get the thread to work. Feels secure.

Good to know my intentions will be clear when I ride tomorrow.

On a flat road with no wind I am finding that at full throttle (80kmh) after less than a minute it feels like I am running out of petrol. The bike drops back from its max on the flat of 80kmh to 70kmh.

Also found that if I use full throttle going down a slight hill in 1st through third entering the motorway then full revs in fourth and fifth on the flat on the motorway, I hit 95km an hour in top but again after less than a minute it drops back to 70-75km sounding like it is starving.

It runs just fine at all other times/revs.

I have the regular carb rejetted, factory "sports" exhaust, iridium plug, standard air filter. Which screw to turn, by how much? to experiment with this or do I need to rejet again?

There is a manual on how to tune the ace carbs around her. (On my phone ATM so I don't have the info).
Make sure your carb is right before moving on to the air box.
Do a plug chop. See what it looks like.
New plug. For flat out for 500 mtrs or so and cut the motor(kill switch & clutch to a halt) , if you can pull the plug and have a look, or pull it. Swap for your old one and head back to your workshop. Check it's nice and clean, or even slightly black (rich) , it maybe too lean (white/grey). Sorry I didn't see what main/slow jets you are using.

Sorry about the misinformation 2b!

I forgot there were two types of blinker; mine are like this:

might be low float bowl level as you ride your using more fuel then can flow into the float bowl so after it runs low it starts to loose power and lean out.

Progress report.....Now 860km . I had my 1st attempt at 100km/h..just made it, but it was very windy. Only upgrade I can do now as far as the performance/speed goes is the 150cc barrel . I may not have run the bike in correctly, Re current 'hard run in ' methods. I am used to 60's/70's period motors and a gentle run in. I feel I should have a bit more 'go' with all the mods done so far , including a 16 tooth front sprocket.
One problem so far has been the after market coil I bought. I had just done a 55km run around town, stoped the bike to do some shopping. Upon restarting about half an hour later the motor only ran for about 5mins then died. I could not restart it.
Ended pushing the bike 5km to get home. I did not bother with the gym that evening.
This morning I had a go at starting the bike, and it fired. Rode it round the block but it was missing intermittently , and stalled again. Checked the plug and it was not sparking , although it was last night before I pushed the bike home. Having some tools on hand would have helped , I could do little in the car park.
Anyway, decided to swap newly fitted electrical components one by one to see if I could sort it out.
1st one I tried was the aftermarket coil....guess what....problem solved....now sending an e-mail to China....Chris..ACT

The two silver things that seem to take up most of my waking hours. One is faster than the other, the other is getting faster by the week. 115 kmh on those Chinese Double Swallow Diamond Bird Nest Brand bicycle numbers is scary. I think I better get some new tyres.
