The SkyTeam 'Ace' Resource

Just a thought....
Before you start putting bigger rotors on (naturally, a good idea) has anyone considered using a better caliper? As I am not a ace owner, I am not able to see the clearance between spokes and rotor, but I was thinking something like a pre radial GSXR tokico or perhaps CBR nissin 4 pot caliper, both very cheap and abundant on ebay. May need to upgrade the M/C also.
this is a popular upgrade to the SV650 which come with flimsy 2 piston calipers (which are probably better than the stock ace ones).
Also I had the thought...
the front rotor of the ace has quite a bit of offset, if you got a larger rotor with zero offset, an adapter could be made to correct the bolt pattern and be the thickness of the offset to give correct disc spacing? Once again choose something that's around 280mm and easy and cheap to get.

That makes good sense :)

Hi All,

Getting ready for DGR next sunday.
Still 2 things on my todo list.

1) Make the bike a little more quiet:
I upgraded my exhaust to an OOracing front pipe and black commando style muffler. Runs great, But is too loud in my opinion.. I know "loud pipes save lives", but i prefer it to be more or less like the stock one, I already fitted a db reducer, but this makes not that much of a difference. Any tips on that one? I will wrap my front exhaust as well, don't know if it would make a difference, but didn't get to that part yet..

2) Upgrade the oil from the front forks:
Got the upgrade kit from OOracing a while ago.. but I do have some questions.. Do i only have to remove the top bolts ( carefully, because there are some springs underneath..) and the two bolts on the black bracket. remove the legs, hold them upside down to remove the oil, let them drain for half an our or so. put them back, put one bottle of oil in every leg, add the spacers on top, and screw it all back in? Or is there something i am missing? (i Also have clip-ons waiting that need to be slided on. so i maybe i will add them as well.. Are there any guides tips on this process?

p.s, here is a picture of the current status of my ace..

Nico

Does anyone know the size of the screw which secures the speedometer to the inside of the housing? Looking at the bike front on, it's to the upper/right of the speedometer cable entry, on the underside of the housing. Not the two on the outside with the washers.

The screw has fallen out at some point, and the housing does not want to come apart. Currently the speedometer rattles around based on any movement from the cable to the wheel.

Is this the one you need? It's a M4 screw. Total length 8mm, without head it's 5mm. I hope this helps.

Absolutely.. other fellow Aces in DGR Antwerp?

Sorry guys from Antwerp,
I confirmed too quickly for the Antwerp DGR. I thought it would be in the afternoon. But I just received the mail with the ride details: It's at 10AM. Next year I'm in.

The bike looks good and the qulity of work is high.

I have just purchased the same bike from Rob in Chrischurch, I would be keen to meet other STA owners in Auckland or the Waikato.
