The Volkswagen Thread

Man, I miss my MK1 Rabbit GTI
That thing was so much fun, looking at all these VWs I think I am going to start hunting for an old Beetle or a Rabbit GTI again

I miss your caddy.

It was for sale again, the guy that bought it from me did a little work, and got tired of it as well. I never did get all the money he owed me...

Glad I found this thread, here's a couple of pics of mine.

1960 Beetle.
36hp
Narrowed 4.5inch beam on adjusters
Adjustable plates on the rear.
All standard apart from that.
Oh, and it's got Australia only 1960-1961 50/50 tail lights.

Very nice, sir.

I thought you guys might get a kick out of this, or it'll drive you crazy. Under this trailer park in Duncan, SC is more than 50 VW's. The property owner used them as landfill. The river labeled in the pic is actually on the other side of the train tracks. The bend labeled is the now a small oxbow lake part of which was filled in by the the cars. It actually sits lower than the park, and the park originally didn't have a level spot anywhere on it. My brother and I have gone a few times on "archeological digs". There is at least one oval window, a 15 window bus, and a notchback amongst the horde. That's just what you could see sticking out of the side of the hill that edges park to the woods back in the 80's.
