Dad picked up this 66

Not much progress, but I had to do something to keep myself from going stircrazy...

Bolted (sorta) the fenders on and laid the trunk lid on. Now it looks a bit more like a Beetle and I'm a bit more inspired. Just made a deal on some drop spindles to match the disc brakes this thing has been converted to and I'm going to a swap meet next weekend where I hope I can score some seats.

I'll jump in on this, brought it home last night, 68 with 65 fenders and lights. $900 seemed reasonable enough.

Does it run and drive?

If so.....9 bills is good.

Got this 66' Volksrod going for the wife, just getting parts together at the moment, but should have a newly built 2032cc motor to show soon.

^^^^^That looks cool JohnGoFast..can you lighten the pics some?^^^^^

Do you have a build thread somewhere's?

I'd like to see more of it.

Eh, tried to lighten, but didn't help much. I'll take more pics and start a build thread in the next month or so when the motor is ready and work starts happening.

Yeah, I love 'em too.

Wish I still had some of the ones I had in the past.

Wife has been on me about getting another.

So, I'm sort of in the market for one. Will probably have to sell one or two of my projects to get one.

Hopefully I can find one around here.

Yeah, I've had a lot of vehicles, but the only one I regret selling was my VR6 GTI.. It had a lot of work done to it (turbo, chip, cam, exhaust, lowered, neoprene motor mounts, lots of body work.) and was just so fun to drive. It had some crazy colorful 80's looking fabric pattern on the seats.

I got rid of it when my first child was on the way because someone told me I needed to have a 4 door car and it would be to hard to get a baby in a car seat in the back. I later learned that was not true when I was hauling kids around in my wife's new beetle.

Got a new K&N Tyhpoon intake installed on mine. :)

Make us wonder why we even listen to people at all, dunnit? I know similar regret.

Here's my VW

You are KILLING me here............that was my first car and I want another bad!
Mild port and polish, cam, heavier valve springs, rebuilt the bottom end, 2 inch exhaust from header back, short shift kit, and suspension was done with new lowering springs (higher spring rate as well), sway bars, and strut tower bar. Man I loved that thing
