My brother Tim, as you may have noticed in the banners, is fund-raising for the Walk for Autism in Toronto.

This is an important cause for us as my oldest son was diagnosed over 9 years ago.

Through education, diet, therapy and the support of family, freinds and schools Logan has gone from a non-verbal, head-banging non-interactive 2 year old, needing a full-time EA in Kindergarten and part-time in grade 1 to finishing grade 6 on the honour role in a non-adjusted program and maintaining that through grade 7. He also skateboards, fences, writes, draws and plays the guitar and clarinet. The transformation has been remarkable and we owe a lot of our success to various organisations who were unafraid to educate parents as to the treatments available even when they flew in the face of accepted medical doctrine.

Chances are Autism affects someone you know. Helping these organisations educate parents and aiding in research will help a significant percentage of the children today become productive members of society and improve their lives and the lives of their families in ways you can't imagine.

Thanks.

Donated last year for a co-worker, this year for you guys 8)

Donations are tax deductable possibly....last year I could not, but could have been because I was getting a big chunk of change back in education credits...not sure

Who's next????

Tax deductible to be sure - thanks for the support! Jon, a colleague at work, organizes this every year, and I've done the walk and donated personally, but this is the first time I've actively fund-raised for it. I'm genuinely humbled by the generosity of people, especially in these tough times.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say Great Job for supporting Walk Now for Autism.. I have had a team every year for the last 3 years and we have raised over $5000 USD for this great cause! We walk at Lowes Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.. I cant tell you how awesome it makes me feel to support this great cause.

Keep up the great work guys!

Kevin - Charlotte, NC

Wow! The raised goal has been reached... $1500!!

Thank you very much everyone... the support has been tremendous... I'm sure Tim's bosses are in for a shock when they cut that matching cheque ;D

I have to say, when i saw that you were raising $ for autism research, it really felt good. My wifes a therapist for an autism care group here in PA. The struggle those kids go through is heartbreaking, and unfortunatly here the men and women who spend their lives working for and with them make next to nothing, and still end up funding some things for the kids themselves. So please continue to donate, and help those kids and those that help them.

Thanks for the support - I should have updated sooner - the walk went very well. My wife and daughter joined in, and we raised over $2,000 for the cause.

Hi Dan. Just read your thread--I'm a new member and the father of an autistic boy. Your brohter is very lucky to have support from his family. When my son was diagnosed six years ago, my life completely changed. I have grown so much becuase of my son--I am now a special ed teacher and I work with children with autism. I love to see people support the cause. I'm glad to hear Logan is getting the support he needs.
