The article was funny. As far as this hipster phenomenon I have no time for it or any other label. I certainly won't stop liking the things I like just because they may be deemed trendy. In ways I'm glad they're getting into the old CB's. A few years from now when they move on to the next trendy thing there'll be a fire sale of unfinished projects on craigslist for cheap. I can wait it out.

Good point. I picked up my kz750B from a hipster who spent a bunch of money on parts and then butchered the wiring and couldn't get it running. After a simple harness and carbs it fired right up.

Every generation has genre that defines it just that these are called "Hipsters" Before there was punks, mods, rockers, greasers etc who all borrowed something from history and developed it to thier own taste, invoking the wrath of the elders who had seen it all before.

We are all Hipsters we just called ourselves something else back in the day.

Speak for yourselves! I'm far to old to be hip but I do have a cell phone. Its out in the truck turned off.

So, what's wrong with motorized bicycles??? I think they're pretty cool. In fact, I'd rather be seen on one than a moped or scooter. I personally have nothing against hipsters. My favorite hipster is Kramer. I'd also rather have hipsters around than so-called bikers. But, that's just me.

I agree with this entirely. I've never had a negative encounter with a hipster. I dont understand the overwhelming dislike. My take is that most people hate on em because they're trendy, and they get hot girls. So whatever they're doin, it's working for them. More power to those guys and their ridiculously skinny jeans and what not. Bikers though, i have gotten many a stink-eye from the "bikers" around here just to look tough or something I guess. I mean if ur not in some form of black leather, don't bother... I try to smile and wave to everybody on every kind of bike/ scoot/ moped while I'm out riding though.good karma for safe riding... :)

Dang I'm hip and I hate it! :( I have a 70s era cb and a couple vintage 2 stroke vespas. Plus, I wear skinny jeans (i have chicken legs). Although, not ridiculous "keep Austin wierd" skinny looking like old Hessian Def Leopard skinny jeans. But it is 3 strikes. However, I do own a construction company and effin hate moochers which is the usual trait of those types. I hope that counts for something.

Hahaha I have a job, wife and two kids I love to spend time with but, I think if any of us sat back and thought about it we’d find we all have at least some “hipster” type traits. LOL Who cares?

I’m a total bicycle nerd (currently own/race 7 of them) but have never cared for fixies. Had one about 16 years ago and got rid of it 15 and a half years ago (true story). I hated that stupid thing. That’s just me.

I’m a total music nerd (always have been) focussing mainly on indie rock too. Imagine that!

I’m keying this up right now on a Mac Mook Pro (but I roll a Black Berry, which from what I understand, is very anti-hipster. It’s like showing a crucifix to a vampire - at least in the old flicks).

I ride a CB.

I occasionally wear skinny jeans with checkered Vans.

“Hipsters” are often seen carrying (and I stress CARRYING) longboards. I’ve been a skateboarder since I was 9 so that’s a full 31 years. When I’d had enough of stairs, handrails and mini-ramps I got into longboarding, I was loving it. I’m not about to give it up because of a particular group is getting into it.

Never been big on labels. I always try to let people do whatever it is they want as long as it isn’t hurting anyone. I don’t judge based on appearances or innocent actions (like Norton stickers on a Yamaha). I don’t care. Why sweat the small stuff?

p.s. I'd love a 2 stroke Vespa!

This may not be a universal hipster trend, but the only real problem I have with the ones near me is they don't bathe often enough.
