Thanks guys! and BC no i have not done a step by step we are so busy in the shop we are working 12 hour days 7 days a week and have been for 4 months now. Being the go to coater for custom work is awesome but we have to put in the time to stay there.
Very impressed with your powder on the Outer Fork Tubes. I like how you pay careful attention to masking off the inside of the area. It was great communicating with you when building my XS500 Cafe and I want to give you some business on my latest KZ650 project if possible.
I am thinking about powdering my fork tubes and some other parts. How do the tubes hold up to rocks and such? Alot of people are saying "no" with aluminum tubes but I imagine you would know best.
Only people that say "no" are the ones that have never had it, or have had a very shitty job done on them. Here is a shot of my dyna, 58k on the fork lowers. still look great! rarely people will get a chip but to be honest if it is hitting the lower hard enough to take off powder it would dent or chip a tank. so to say not to powder them is like saying do not paint your tanks. Factory clears fork lowers anyway so that same rock would chip the clear you have on them as well. We have done hundreds of these man and had awesome results. my bandit is also pictured i have about 40k on those lowers being coated (this bike is rode rain or shine, and into the winter. It seens some shit! If the powder is done right it will not only look good but also be very durrable. again these bikes are not trailer queens they are riden, most have more miles than some people will every put on a bike, the lowers still look great!
i can post prob 100 pics of bikes we have done to show this as well... but to drive home, here is a shot of some of my snowmobiles, on the trail you will litteraly get rocks flung at you from the guy in front , it is kind of a game to nail the person behind you for myself and my buddies... all of my suspension parts are coated. you can see a few chips in the hood but none of the orange... tough stuff thank you for reaching out to me on this if you need any other pics please let me know. again i am not going to tell you that a rock launched at 60mph is not going to damage lowers, but think about it, howe often does that happen, and if it does the metal and everyting would be mared also. not just the powder work
