Typical Rider

My bike is not transportation, it is a respite
Margrave said he was conscious during most of the three days [he lay in a ditch] and shouted for help from passing cars to no avail. Due to his injuries, he could not move his hands to fetch his phone or brush bugs away from crawling over his body. Even so, family members say he is in good spirits overall, only becoming upset when he learned his bike was demolished and that paramedics had cut his fairly expensive jeans.

Hahahaha, sounds about right.

Seriously though, glad it looks like he is going to pull through. This is actually one of my fears. Wrecking and nobody seeing it and being unable to get help.

Wow.... when my dad crashed last spring he latex in the ditch about 30 minutes hoping a car would spot him. No such luck tho, so he unwrapped his leg from a clump if trees and found his phone. And then gave ems directions to him.

I was laughing at him being most concerned about his bike and jeans. Not him getting hurt.

E, yes, I was thinking of your dad's story when I read that.

I won't wear new jeans on a bike anymore; they seem to result in an accident which ends up with them being cut off in hospital.

Superstitious I know - but I don't want to take the risk!

Crazy

This is the reason why I tell my wife where I'm going, what roads I'll be taking, and what time I expect to arrive at my destination. Or, if I'm just going on a joy ride, I turn on the GPS locator on my phone, which is then linked to her phone.
I read a local news story a while back where a guy from TX crashed, and was killed, out in a sugarcane field and wasn't found for a few weeks... by the farmer, who happened upon the bike a dozen or so yards into the field. His family reported him missing after a week or so of not hearing from him, but had no idea where he might be. The rider would apparently go off for weeks at a time with no contact.
