Velocity stacks tuning

If any readers of this forum have actual experience with tuning these Honda PD style carbs 1977-78 please give us your results. But make sure you give us all the facts not part of the facts. That is not helpful.

What is needed is :
Exhaust type, intake type, engine modifications from stock other than intake and exhaust.
Also idle jet size, mainjet size, shims on the non adjustable slide needle given in thousands of an inch, and mixture screw position.

Then we will have valuable info we can all use.

When I finish tuning my motorcycle and it runs perfect then I will post all of the particulars.

My apologies, I should have said *cheap* pods. I have indeed done the work to get both velocity stacks and pods to run correctly. On my cb550 w/stacks? Runs perfect, and was a breeze ironing out the jetting. On my old xs400 with pods? Never could get it right. Decent, but not perfect. Take it for what it's worth. But I will say something different than the next guy, and you better believe everyone's right, including me. ::)

It's the internet. Use it to get a baseline, then figure out for yourself what works. Because we're all full of shit, to an extent.

I would not say,"Because we're all full of shit, to an extent."
WE all have had different experiences.

It is not that some people on the internet are right or wrong. It is how much experience they have had.
Example: Someone says, So and so is very experienced because they have welded 6 motorcycle frames.
But meanwhile there is someone who is welding 6 frames per day and has been doing it for 15 years including different designs and testing and getting results back from those efforts.

See what I mean?

Good analogy.
I've been working on bikes almost exclusively for over 40 yrs, the last 11-1/2yrs teaching others how to work on them (although Iwas teaching techs in shops since about 1978)
The only manufacturer I have minimal experience with is Kawasaki.
Awful lot of experience with Honda's up to about 1995 even more with Suzuki and Yamaha

Sounds like you must know a lot about all of these issues.
Thanks for sharing the information about your experience.
