As I understand carburizing, it is a reduction flame which adds carbon to the metal and hardens it. With stainless, they use plasma carburizing which has better penetration and fills the gaps.
i had it backwards thanks. A carburizing flame has more acetylene than oxygen...

Our neighbor Steve took the swing arm to the shop to be welded. We are making another gusset plate for the bottom and we are throwing around some ideas for additional bracing.

I single 1/4" rod bent to fit and welded cross the tops of the arms works wonders, actually.
thanks Sonreir. We are waiting for our 17t sprocket to check chain clearance.

So I was reading my manual today and found a little picture of a large threaded screw. I realized I had taken out that screw and had no idea what it was. Here's the picture.

i was just wondering what it does. It said a clutch lifter screw.

1 - I am jealous as all heck. Nice score Zeke.

2 - Best Simple brace is a U shaped tube 1" diameter welded to the lower side of the swingarm.

3 - That "screw" thing is the clutch lifter. As it turns, it pushes on the push rod. See if you can find it. I may have a spare here somewhere if you can't

those shocks are the schkiittzzle ;D
the swingarm bracing you got there will be fine,it is a bit artsy over function but you dint need much ;)

Do y'all know the best way to repair a hole that my dad blew while welding.

Cut the section out and fabricate a new one, it's better and stronger than just filling it up. There may well be a bunch of rust inside

The whole entire tank is rusted but it's just surface rust.

or laminate a formed up angle piece over it what is it ?
its my tank. Bryan Hobbs from Hobbs performance told me to put a piece of copper behind as a buck and also if I wanted to I could fill pin holes with silicon bronze rod. He also said oxyacetylene welding is the dirtiest kind of welding and the shielding gas will push the impurities to the edge of the puddle.

We got the APE Kawasaki 900 2 bolt cam sprocket and it is an exact match for our existing 175 cam and it is the same width as the 200 cam sprocket. We will need to re groove the slots to match the 200 cam holes however the new sprocket is just a tiny bit to big on the ID. Suggestions?
