Well, I suppose it's time to start a build thread... v.CB200

Score... Hooker CB175 2-into-1 exhaust

I got that same feeling when the bare frame was sitting on the table: "Surely this thing has been crashed." But once the footpegs and rear brake pedal are on, it looks much more balanced.

I've recently been down your road, rebuilding a CB200 on the cheap. It's a great bike to work on! Here's mine http://www.cb200rebuild.com/

Triple and bar clamps

I'm kicking myself for forgetting to get the engine mounts done at the same time. Grrrrrr...

So, round 2 of powdercoating..
-engine mounts
-lower triple (had planned to just paint, but why not now?)
-fork lowers?

and, I guess it's really crunch time to start deciding on paint. I change my mind every day

your frame is fine
look at the way the footpeg bar is shaped

good luck with your project :D
really liking that exhaust

Nice powdercoating, who did it??

Also, keep up the good work, work slow and it will come out very nice......then sell is and build the second one you bought for reference even better ;D :D

Unfortunately, this is the current state of my garage...

So, no updates for a bit... (hoping to have this done by NEXT weekend, so that means late Oct until I'm back to bikes)

Powdercoating was done by C&S in Canton MI.

Right on man some good scores there.

While some people have valid comments about doing x first, making mistakes is part of the process, learning from them is much more valuable then successes imo.

But ya xnay on the Chinese shocks, instant de-credits a whole build imo.

CB200 is dead simple. The only thing easier would be a 6v single cylinder.

A Honda shop manual or Clymer (second choice, personally) combined with CMSNL diagrams will get you running. It has been the case several times where somebody disassembled the whole bike and handed me boxes of parts and just said "make it run". In fact, I'm in the process now.

Just read the damn step-by-step several times and make sure you understand it before you have to take it all apart to deal with the one part you left out :p

I think the first step is going piece by piece and identifying them with CMSNL diagrams. They're so damn helpful.

Late to comment, but I usually pull it all down and cut off all the tabs, even the ones I know I'll eventually need. Why, because I want to move things around and make them better than OEM if possible and some of course eliminate. Fear not if you are a good planner, and be meticulous.
I've been tempted by the Chinese copy shocks, (they're responsible for a surge in Ohlins decal sales) but the only way to find out if they can be made at least passably good is to dis-assemble them and have a real look at the internals? Perhaps someday when I get a spare $80.

HEY! Landcruiser head gasket is finally complete and the barge is out of my garage! Let the bike building resume!

Any updates?

Sadly, not many... I finished the FJZ80 repair and got my garage space back, but it's been sub arctic temps here for weeks and my garage isn't heated. So, it sits like so:

I did score a nice deal on a CB175 wheel for the front end

Hoping to at least get it to roller status within a few weeks...

The tiniest bit of progress:

It's still absurdly cold here. Apparently we are 10" past the record for Jan snowfall already and we've had multiple days of sub zero temps. It's -5 to -15 every night when I leave work. Too damn cold in the garage.

Wife has 5 days off starting on Friday, so maybe I can get her rolling (the bike, not the wife)

I'm on board! Hopefully it warms up a bit for you.
Where did you get the brass bushes from? I'm looking to buy a set for my cb200.

I'm interested in the brass bushings too.

Where you git them.

Buy a heater, no wait buy two heaters. Sympathy from Saginaw -10F this morning.
Cheers, 50gary

I want that exhaust sooooooo bad. Very nice score. Where did you find it?
