Well, I suppose it's time to start a build thread... v.CB200

I want that exhaust sooooooo bad. Very nice score. Where did you find it?

Saw it on eBay, recognized it as having been on a build here on DTT... sent a message to the guy and worked out a deal. It cost me more than the actual bike  but worth it. It will be the centerpiece of the build, for sure...

Here's what it looked like on the previous owners CB175

Funny, I sent a message to the guy whose bike you posted. He said he had just sold it. You must have just bought it from him. Haha. Dirty rat... :)

One more question about it and I'll shut up :) is there some sort of model number or identification on it? I was thinking about calling Hooker/Holley and inquiring...

I will check it out for you this weekend.

Swingarm bushings are bronze.. I got them from McMaster Carr

Sweet, I'm looking at them now. Any chance you could tell me the measurements/sizes you got? or if there is a product code or something?
Thanks man!

I think I still have the invoice on my table... I will grab that for you

Well... I guess I'm running into my first real roadblock... My swingarm won't fit after powdercoating... And it's not even close. WITHOUT the inside rubber boots and without the outer dust caps installed... It still won't go in without a hammering.
With rubber boots and dustcaps? Forget about it.

*sigh*. I guess I'm going to be grinding off some fresh shiny powdercoating...

Woah don't chip it off yet. I had the same problem. It wouldn't fit and I had to budge it on. Eventually it slipped into place.

Mine isn't even close. I was able to get it in with a rubber hammer, minus the dustcaps and rubber boots and that was extremely tight and required brute force persuasion... With boots and caps, I bet it's off by 1/4" on each side.

Ok, are your bushings all the way pressed in? Stupid question,..not meant to insult haha.

Here's a picture showing how tight it is without the rubber inside caps and outer dustcaps...

It's tight enough that the swingarm does not drop freely despite being unsupported

Ah, I see your problem I think. You replaced your stock bushings? Check the thickness of the stock bushing flange against the thickness of the flange of your replacements. I had to send my bushings out to crazypj to get him to deck the flange quite a bit. After that they slid right into place. I got mine from McMaster.

In other words the flange is thicker on your replacements, giving you less room to work with. The difference in the "sandwich" would be 4 times whatever thickness variation there is.

Gotcha... I did get mine from McMaster as well. I'm wondering if it's even necessary? or could I run it as is? Would the flanges on the bushing serve the same purpose as the caps? With as tight as mine is, it seems like I would have to all but remove the flanges to get it to fit (knowing the thickness of the rubber boots and the metal dust caps on each end....

And, my swingarm pivot bolt was greased, and the collars had some residual grease in them... should anything else be greased?

I was in the exact same situation as you...asking the same questions. If I were you, I'd send crazypj a message and get it right. But the rotation around that pivot shaft is so small that I can't think of any catastrophic failure that would happen. You would certainly get crap in there though.

Are your bushings tight in the swingarm? Mine from McMaster were not press fits...they slid right into place. Crazypj told me to JBweld them into the swingarm lightly and then lube the inner spacer and shaft. That's worked so far for me. The bushings should stay still and the inner spacer should be free to rotate.

I had to bang them in with a plastic hammer. No way that they were going in by hand.

That's a simple lathe job, any machine shop can do the job. Not to take anything away from PJ but to save time and shipping. There should be a machine shop every two blocks in Day-twa. Instead of hammering the bushings in you could put them in the freezer.. no wait put them outside it's colder for an hour then push them into place with a C-clamp.
Cheers, 50gary
