I rented out some space in my shop to 3 guys that build those things. I'm a little jealous as they can completely rebuild and install a motor and completely mod a bike in about a half hour and for like $60. Sheesh. (i exaggerate for effect.)
Lingo.... I saw these dudes (moped gang) running though Dic-hater a month back and all most dropped my bike laughing... So in my attempt to see more I busted a U'y and asked if they wanted to race.... All I got was hipster snot nose.... as I replied.."you do know your riding weed whackers Right?" light turned green and I ripped a big Vroom Vroom at them as I twisted the wick on blast off... O what fun...
I swear I can run faster drunk then those terds can pull from a light......
HAHAHA...Damn it your not supposed to factor in labor time when calculating bike flip profit... ;D Otherwise I would have made about $0.25 and hr on my last bikes. ;D
I like riding the little bikes every now and again. Right now I ride my wife's little Honda Elite 80 when I am working on my bike or its too cold to ride my bike. I can bundle up easier on that little thing. I've debated multiple times picking up a little moped just to tinker with. But I will wait till the prices drop a good bit. To each his own.
Random story,
I had a Yamaha Vino 49cc when I was in school. (put about 10,000 miles on it.) One day I was riding along and 4 dudes on Harley's drove past me, they slowed down and then waved me up. I cruised with them for a couple miles, it was pretty awesome 8).
Not all harley riders are dicks, just most it seems. ;D
Honda sold a ped version of the S90 based on the same engine with an additional bit of engineering by way of the crank and pedals. I always thought it'd be neat to build one up to the displacement limit (178cc with OE honda parts) and some key aftermarket goodies and fling it in some minimal chassis.
SupahPed!
Riding buddy of mine stuck one of those Chinese 125cc motas in a Honda 70 scoot..Damn thing will run like stink off poop.Be careful what u mess with out there.Lol.bj
Swagger,
That does sounds like a sweet project. Little tiny bikes going super fast ;D How rare is that model?
hocbj23,
I always been pretty wary of those Chinese motors. Was talking to a bike shop here in town and he said he had just finished telling a guy that it was beyond repair without spending more than it was worth. The bike only had 70 miles on it But 125cc on a little 70 does sound like a good bit of fun.
I tell you these guys in my shop have the spirit man, They ride, hard. They wrench, they live and breathe their machines. And they take endless amounts of shit from us about the damn things. I have total respect for them. Couple of the hangers on are little douches but they're scared of us so its just kind of funny. I won't ever ride one, what was that Swagg? "circus bear on a scooter." or something like that?
I worked on one of those Chinese 125's in a trail 70 for a friend this summer, thing was toast. cheaper and easier to just replace the motor.
Started riding on this. Modified Honda Ruckus. A lot of fun, perfect for city driving. Seem like every other time I went on it, I got pulled over. Got tired of getting pulled over and sold it.
