Bottom line is with nearly a billion people actively using Facebook on a regular basis, it's impossible to ignore and while there are a ton of good reasons to not use Facebook at all, it's kind of like there are a ton of good reasons to not drink beer or eat bacon.

This. And I agree with putting it on the head of each topic. That's good. With it at every post you'd constantly be getting facebook postings about how your friends like posts by swivel or bobber cult.

HAHAHA, totally. Seeing how BBS' and forums are somewhat of the social network precursors to things like Facebook and Twitter. Not quite as narcissistic though ;D. Can't really say I'll use the feature that much but it doesn't bother me that it's there.

Funny you mention BBS. I think this must be in my blood, as way back in 1983 I was running a BBS on an Apple II+ computer with a 300 baud dial-up modem (I was 13). I guess I'm just reliving my childhood in my middle-age.
